Well, I'm assuming practice begins tomorrow. Rex gave the team some time to think this thing over, which I feel was a good move. Let this thing soak in before starting a new page for next week. Apparently, the coaching staff has been in meetings these last two days re-evaluating talent and figuring everything out that went wrong. Players should be back tomorrow, so what do you guys think? How do you think we will approach this thing in practice? Last time, Rex buried the ball. You think he can muster something up to breathe some life into these guys? (Oh, I know this is reaching, but you think you guys could keep the negative, "we're done", bullshit out of this thread? Really trying to get some valued opinions on this situation and what you think could be done to help jump start this thing. Thank You.)
all depends on how drastic the changes are. if he benches a few of "his" guys, i am looking at you bart scott, then yea he could get this team moving again. if he just says we will tweak some plays and nobody loses their jobs then epect another 34-0 pounding.
Very true. I think he needs to send a message that he means business. That means putting in Davis taking first team snaps and Powell taking snaps as the primary RB. I mean A LOT of snaps. Not just limited snaps. He needs to put players on the field that put us in the best position to win, including Coples.
Have Mark make a speech to try and get his confidence up and maybe get this team to rally around him. We really need him to step up if we have any chance at the playoffs.
We started seeing Damario Davis a little more last week. Hopefully that continues and we see him significantly more this week.
He brings a lot of speed to our defense, something we need bad! With him and Coples starting, I feel we can be a lot more effective. I love Maybin also. Wish they would use him more as well
Maybin, Coples, and Davis should all start at this stage. They should look to rotate Calvin Pace and Bryan Thomas on downs to keep them both fresh. At this stage they both have the same role, Pace can barely rush the passer. Kendrick Ellis should be getting more reps spelling for Pouha. I understand guys like Bart Scott, Calvin Pace, and Pouha are Rex's guys, but he's gotta get younger on the outside, more speed.
very true.... i like the lex hilliard pickup a lot. along with some schematic changes id like to see some starting lineup changes aka demario davis and coples with more consistent playing time. wouldnt be shocked to see vlad get even more reps....in fact i think its time to give the guy the LG job. it wont happen this week but id also like to see bilal become our starter with shonn acting as a goal line back.
I'm liking this thread a lot. Good quality opinions with all the negative comments left aside. I'm also starting to see a trend of thoughts with Coples and Davis. Hopefully Rex sees this trend as well. Excited to see what happens this next week and upcoming game. We have an extra day to practice. Would love to see what we put together.
Agree, except with Sanchez. Crucify me if you must, but I still think he's got it. With the right game plan, a running game, and the receivers getting separation, he can be awesome. Again, personal opinion
No symbolic bullshit -- make some lineup changes -- make some guys accountable -- make payers pissed off and fight for their jobs.
guys as much as our linebackers are utter shit, i'd say bart scott looks the best out of all of them. but i guess if you need to take out one ILB its him
Shit is falling apart right now. Try new things. Let Demario play more, Start Coples, Give another receiver a chance, maybe Jordan White, and start Powell. Let's change some shit around and see what we got.
Is it likely that Pettine/Rex is getting too "tricky" / "complex" with the defense ? I'm new here and it's understandable that it would take some time to learn how some things are done, but I can't even figure out our starting D lineup, i.e. our "base" D or if we even have one. Seems that there are just a ton of guys at a bunch of positions that rotate in and out frequently with little rhyme or reason Save for Revis (before injury of course), Cro, and Landry
Best thing we could do. It's not working with what we've been putting on the field, so why not switch it up? I'm sure guys like Davis, Coples, Powell, would play their absolute heart out to earn that starting job.
Haven't we been saying this all the while, though? All true statemenys and if things keep going the way they are(injuries) we may one day get our wish. However, I feel this may not happen, to the extent stated by a lot of posters, until we are officially eliminated from contention. Which, at the rate we're going, may be sooner rather than later.
Start Powell. Use Greene as that number Two change of pace back that used to bulldoze guys late in the game when he was fresh and they were tired. Let Tebow play, not start, that would be insane. But let him stay on the field a bit, at a variety of positions. I have said since the beginning (I mean Since Florida) guys a Baller just not really a qb at this level. Imagine Powell tebow and Greene splitting carries. Imagine two tight ends in crossing routes, tebow and Keller (if he ever plays again). And on defense Rex needs to do what he does best and get really creative and aggressive. Bench Scott, it sends a message and eliminates one hole. The other problems can be smoke and mirrored away if guys start playing aggressively. And finally start using a dink and dunk passing. Launch it to Hill just enough to keep the defense honest but the deep game is not marks or Tim's specialty.
