Let me caveat this by saying, I'm not trying to nitpick a play in which a guy was obviously hurt. But in reviewing the replay, Holmes just tossed the ball when he went to the ground. This to me is representative of his mentality. I get it, the guy was hurt and obviously in a lot of pain, so I'm not trying to nitpick this one play in particular. HOWEVER, we've seen guys get hurt with the ball many times and they never just toss the ball to a defender. Guys tear their ACL and blow up different parts of their body in a pile and don't do that. This pretty much encapsulates Holmes in a nutshell and summarizes his mentality in one play. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsQkG82mFSs Flame me if you must, but it's true.
Unless you're knocked out and thus drop the ball because, well you're fucking unconscious, it's inexcusable. I agree 100% in that this is completely indicative of Holmes' mentality. Me, me, me. I got hurt and that sucks so I'll just flip the ball up and I don't care what happens to the team.
Exactly. I obviously wish Holmes a speedy recovery, but his split second decision there really to me, showed his true colors. I mean AP shredded his knee and didnt toss the ball. DMC had a similar injury, didn't toss the ball. Literally the list goes on and on, because I don't think I've ever seen that before.
I know we have no receivers but we should figure a way to get rid of him, should have kept Braylon instead, this guy is a cancer on this team
That is almost what he did in Miami last year. . .same part of the field, same play last year. On that one he got hit, but man he plays with such little heart sometimes. Now we are playing with a group of number 3 receivers at best.
It's my understanding the Jets can cut/trade him next year with no cap consequence. Can anyone back that up? The Jets can't trade him this year, it's just not feasible. But they can IR him.
i honestly felt awkward just creating this thread cuz i hate to bring up a play where a guy was hurt...but i mean come on...players just dont do that... Epps didn't even do that...He hurt his knee but got whacked at the same time.
I am sure he thought he was down..stupid mistake I guess but I doubt he was just trying to cause a fumble/td return for kicks. Even the announcers said you can call yourself down (whatever that means) and the refs seem to have completely blown the call anyway even if he wasn't down.
IDK man...if you look at the replay I find that explanation hard to believe. I get it, he was hurt and I'm not expecting him to sit there and clutch the football....But to outright just toss it at the defender?
