It was the correct call. Both players had possession when they hit the ground. Tie goes to the receiver. TD.

That's not the rule. And the catch should have been irrelevant anyway, since they missed the blatant OPI by Tate.

Thats not the rule. The rule is if it is a simultaneous catch then the tie goes to the receiver. Jennings caught the ball first which negates that.

Besides doesn't look to me like Tate had possession on the ground.

It is not a catch until two feet hit the ground. When that happened, both players had possession of the ball........

I probably over-read into his implication, but given that he basically admitted that he pushed-off there was no reason to go further and explicitly admit that he also didn't catch it.

Just to clarify, you mean when both of their bodies hit the ground? Or does lying on your back with your feet in the air not count as a catch?

whether the play should have been negated by a penalty isn't the same as him admitting he did not catch the ball. he was clearly discussing the penalty, not the implications on the play if a penalty had been called.

Bro ESPN went back and looked at 85 such situations....the only call issued was on a one on one.

But, if the GB player had control THRU THE CATCH how could he not yank the ball away from Tate.

That clip is about 2 seconds from where the ref saw it...

Look Re: the thread title..fuck Green Bay...a look at the jets game or the Chavois interception in the Vikings game...I didn't see them stepping up and admitting the calls helped.

Instead after mustering 3 field goals against a top ranked jets defense rodgers said "I didn't see anything special there" when the calls helped him win a game in which he couldn't put a TD on the board.

    A quintessential douche.

Is that the moment two feet hit the ground?

No Jennings in that clip is trying to wrestle away from Tate....

When did two feet hit the ground? Why would two feet hit the ground? Can two feet ground?

Jennings knows that he screwed up. Yesterday the Ravens game ended on a hail mary as well, and the Ravens did the right thing and knocked the ball away instead of trying to catch it. If it's 4th down, you don't catch the pick.

If you are asking these questions, then I'll assume you didn't see the play. Now I understand your confusion. Watch the play and you'll see what I mean....

I know. It was well after possession was established.

If you are giving these responses, then I'll assume that you're confused. Re-read what I wrote and you'll see what I mean....

But seriously, anyone who was actually watching the play/knows what they're talking about agrees that the moment that Jennings' second foot (his left) hit the ground (making all 4 feet now on the ground) it was impossible to see the football unless you're Superman and the players aren't wearing Lead in their uniforms:

So to assert that anyone knows who had possession of the ball at that point or to say that one player wrestled the ball away from another player is absurd. As much as self-proclaimed football gurus love to always be right, any discussion past the OPI call is nothing more than opinionated speculation. Carry on.

The OPI doesn't have anything to do with possession.
