I dont understand what the problem is here. Powell has clearly outplayed McKnight in the eyes of the coaching staff, so it's Greene and Powell at RB like it has been so far this season. McKnight isnt doing anything on offense anyway besides come in for the occasional Tebow package. The idea that the Jets lose anymore depth at RB then they had is dumb to. Just because McKnight is going to play CB doesnt mean he cant continue his minimal role on offense as well. Didnt we already talk about Cromartie playing 2 ways in the pre season? Why cant McKnight? Especially if he isnt going to be getting a ton of work on either side of the ball? There is absolutely nothing wrong with this decision. It's a smart move by Rex and the coaching staff to maximize the use of a player already on their team.
I love the idea, he was a bust as a RB. He has the athleticism to play corner and the speed, if it doesn't work out he goes back to being the 3rd or 4th string RB or you just cut him all together and move on. Clearly he was never going to get any time as a RB.
I pretty much disagreed with every point you made on that post...but this jumped out. Kick returner is a plug and play position...unless that player is also your PR its virtually a position with little to no value. Teams change their KR every season. PR are much more valuable because it's a lot harder to do. McKnight doesnt return punts. McKnight was drafted to be the full time third down back and couldnt get on the field. If we were to have Kerley return kicks or whomever, no one would even notice.
Wait a minute. Hill with his questionable hands at this phase in his career is better than a Hill/Edwards rotation? Is this serious??!?
Mcknight's only contribution to the team right now is as a kick returner. If he can help out by playing a little corner effectively now and then, it can't hurt. If there was some star cornerback out there waiting to be signed, and the Jets passed on him in favor of Mcknight, then you could complain, but that's simply not the case. If Mcknight doesn't pan out in a week or two you'll be no worse off, it's worth a shot.
You realize Bellishit scores about 40 points a game and doesn't really give a shit about defense because he does, don't you?
Chris Carr? Who BTW is also being worked out by another team (forget who). Carr isn't a star but he has Baltimore roots, understands our system and is serviceable which is exactly what we need.
You're going to feel pretty silly when the entire NFL media is talking about "McKnight Island" by about week 9.
I know McKnight is trying to be stoic about it but it definitely sounds like his morale is crushed . I actually thought he looked better than Green at RB /shrug
No, it wasn't...we all know he built his career on it but since he has had Brady his defenses have pretty much been terrible..it doesn't matter though.
please explain why the pats just reloaded their defense in the draft. I'm willing to ignore the blatant mistruth about defenses being bad since Brady. http://brandonmitchell.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/hayden_shocked_face_resized.jpg
