LOL, no dude. Cincinnati has one of the most underrated lines in the league. And Dalton's team finished the year 3-5, 3-6 if you include the playoff loss with wins over Cleveland, St. Louis, and Arizona. Best team they beat the whole year was Tennessee.
when do we get to blame the fact that pro atheletes are way over paid, and have too much power? You cannot even build a team anymore and retain it. I love revis, but for fuck sakes honor a contract until the end of it. Half these freakin people can't even speak proper english, yet they make millions to celebrate a 1st down when down 30 points and in last place. People like rex and Tannenbaum are handcuffed by what the NFL has really become...all pro sports for that matter.
I know. Way to much overreaction. There were a lot of mental mistakes on the field yesterday. The Jets vs. Fins is always a great game. Plus, in the Ryan Era the Jets have only been 2-4 against the Fins until yesterday.
Doesn't that speak to the talent level presently on the roster? I just don't think this group has a run in it even remotely similar to either AFCCG Jets team. Its that regression that is behind a lot of the pessimism and frustration in this fanbase. We expected more from this team and after the mass buy in by the fanbase on Ryan and his predictions, were let down when it didn't happen. Tannenbaum hasn't really show us anything other than being able to turn multiple draft picks into one bpa while neglecting needs that were screaming to be dealt with. This team needs to take a long, hard look in the mirror and make some decisions that will change fundamentally what the Jets are or aren't. This should include the FO and the CS as well as the players.
REALLY - Sanchez has steadily regressed since coming to the pros. Only rose colored glasses could keep you from seeing that. REALLY - other teams make draft picks that make immediate impact. Why don't we? We needed a pass rusher desperately. If Coples couldn't impact right away, we should have looked elsewhere. REALLY - Let me paraphrase Ryan as the team fell apart on and off the field last year - "I don't know what's going on in the locker room". Does that fit your definition of a good head coach? Doesn't fit mine. REALLY
They missed 2009 because they'd worn Thomas Jones out with 331 regular season carries and 29 more in the playoffs by Indy. He was cooked at that point. Shonne Greene took the late season load but he was fragile. So no running game for Sanchez by the second half of the AFC championship game and that's all she wrote. The injury to Strickland was huge also but if the Jets had been able to maintain a running game in the 2nd half they had a shot.
Hahahah on the bold. Sanchez has not regressed since entering the pros. I don't even have to go past year 2. He improved from year 1 to year 2. Improved from year 2-3. Improved from 3-4. The problem is none of them are big jumps. They were incremental. Sanchez alone now is more consistent, accurate, reads defenses better, reads blitzes better, throws quicker. Your bolded statement is 100% inaccurate.
Do you hold the team to the same standards? Because I can guarantee you that teams not honoring their contracts happens far more often than players holding out for more money.
That is true, and a good point. the problem lies all around. Either way,it is hard to build a good solid team and keep it now. A player will not stay for the sake of the team and accept less m0ney,they do not have the loyalty us fans do. So pretty much we root every sunday for laundry
Wow. Just...wow. In his first two seasons, he looked off defensive backs, got rid of the ball quickly, and was accurate on the long ball. None of which he does or is now. His completion percentage "improved" (from 50 to 55 percent, iirc) due to the four yard dump off. Add to that his continuing propensity for the stupid turnover, and I can't define that as "improvement", despite what the "stats" may say. Watch the games.
Did Sanchez regress from year 1 to year 2. Yes or no? You said this " Sanchez has steadily regressed since coming to the pros. Only rose colored glasses could keep you from seeing that." Are you serious? He has improved from year 1 to 2 so stop there. You are wrong. Or are you going to argue that he regressed from year 1 to year 2? Again, did Sanchez regress from year 1 to year 2? I think everyone would say No. To add on. The talent around Sanchez was at his best in year 2. Coincidence? Sanchez has improved from year 2 to year 3. and year 3 to year 4. They weren't major improvements but the only time you could say he potentially regressed was 2-3 but then I'm seeing improvement 3-4 by watching the games
But that's where the draft comes in. If you draft well then you get players on the cheap for a few years and when guys like Revis want to go elsewhere then the team holds the leverage. If Kyle Wilson was ready to step up and be a starting corner(I don't know that he isn't) then Revis would have way less leverage. The same goes for other positions other than QB for the most part. If you have a good personnel department you can scout and draft good players and trade away the players who are about to demand more money. There are always exceptions, and Revis may be one, where you pay the man whatever he wants. But generally if a team is handcuffed it is not the player's fault.
The OP is right. We should've gone 4-12 those first few years. Then we could've cut Sanchez, fired Rex and Tanny and really built something. 4-12 seasons are like comfort food for darksiders.
no but imagine going 8-8 year one- missing playoffs 10-6 year two- makes ACFCG 11-5 year three- makes ACFCG getting closer and closer shows progress we're going backwards whether you like it or not
So imagine we got better and better would we better off? Yes of course. I don't think early success killed Rex and Sanchez, but it made Tanny sit still quite a bit after 2010. Granted the final four rules, but still we seemed disillusioned we were going to consistently make the playoffs. Last year showed that wasn't the case. Would it have been better to win the SB in one of the first two years?
If you look at yesterdays game, Sanchez was pressured most of the game. Even Phil Simms commented on how Sanchez was pressured most of the game. Second, if you look at the last couple of years, his receivers never get open. I watch other games and receivers get open. A combination of shitty Offensive coordinators (Sporano, please) and receivers that don't study the play book and are crappy at running routes. How bout we throw some more screen passes? our play calling is shit. How many times did you see Sanchez look at the receiver saying WTF, run the route the right way!. Stephen Hill, has thoroughbred speed but fucking can't catch the ball. Even Holmes drops too many balls.Third, is that our offensive line sucks. Not only can we not protect the QB, but we can't open up any holes for the running game. As a result everyone knows Sanchez is going to throw. Yes, Sanchez makes bad too many bad throws . However he makes up for it by making winning drives. As for Rex, he definitely is overrated and have no argument on Rex. However Tbaum gives all our draft picks away and this is what we have, a bunch of over rated free agents. We don't have one 12 sack pass rusher, our linebackers suck and even our kicking game is remedial. These problems fall on the GM. That is what happens when you make a cap specialist who knows dick about football our GM. GMs in football hold the key to building a winning franchise and unfortunately for the Jets we don't have the right guy for the job.
its crazy though, I feel like making the AFCCG made Tanny think Mark was fine and we kept shitting the bed in the draft, I feel like our team has no vision and no direction to be completely honest
