    A mascot.

That’s what Tim Tebow has become for the New York Jets. We can’t call him a quarterback since Rex Ryan and company are too fearful of what might happen. We can kind of call him a running back since he has logged a few carries, but not enough to really deserve the title. Then again, compared to Chris Johnson, he’s actually very deserving. Special teams player…that’s what he is. The only problem is wide receiver Jeremy Kerley literally has ONE more tackle than Tebow does. Sure, the Florida product shifted the momentum with his fake punt run which resulted in a first down, and people can point to how pivotal his involvement was. It did result in a field goal to end the drive, but I’ll go out on a limb and say there are probably a dozen other Jets players who could have caught the Dolphins sleeping on that play.

Is Fireman Ed as effective as Tim Tebow these days?

Whenever the Jets need a boost to morale or to get the crowd fired up, that’s when they call his number. Then he’s pulled faster than a J. Lo movie from theaters. Fireman Ed gets more camera time than Tebow these days.

It’s not a knock on the enigmatic quarter…um…run…uh…player. He want’s to be on the field more and the argument he deserves to be can be made. Mark Sanchez has a career quarterback rating of 73.6 and a 55.0 completion percentage. Tebow? He has a career rating of 75.1 and a 47.3 completion percentage. Regardless of how good or bad you think Tebow is, the numbers don’t care, and they reflect these two quarterbacks aren’t so different in the two stats many consider to be defining of the position. We all know he’s a gamer and he has proven what he is capable of producing. But forget about seeing it in New York. The coaches are getting sick of the Tebow questions and his eight rushing attempts (nine if you count his run yesterday) in three games prove he is nothing more than a gimmick to them. He might as well don a Flight Crew outfit and wave the pom-poms. Or maybe take his shirt off and run in the rain…oh, that happened? At any rate, you get my drift. He picked the wrong team to sign with and I’ll bet he regrets it. Still, I do believe there will be a time this year he is asked to shoulder the load and he will have the last laugh. He’s not worth stashing on your fantasy roster, but when it comes to Tebow, he likes to surprise you when it’s least expected.

The article loses all credibility with that statement. Tebow did not choose to sign with the Jets. He was not an FA. He was traded here and while he was probably asked it is my guess the Broncos would have traded him here regardless.

Yeah, it's crazy. A Tebow thread in the Tebowmania forum! I clicked on the link called "Tebowmania" expecting to find threads completely unrelated to Tim Tebow!

I'll admit, the Tebow coverage is ridiculous.

Having some insight into some of the 'behind the scenes' reality, I disagree.
