I would go with Coleman, I think fans hated on the guy for no reason. He wasn't supposed to be a #1 or a #2 or even a #3. He was dime CB and that's what he would be now. He was very good on the blitz and made some big plays as well. He knows the system and isn't the injury risk that Strickland is.
I Rather Have Coleman Back Not only knows the system but he was our best blitzer/sack artist his last year here.
You mean other than the fact that he was a victim everytime he was on the field. His claim to fame was blitzing. I do not wanna see that liability in a Jets uniform ever again. I'd much rather Strickland or use on of the rookies and try to coach them up.
Fans didn't hate on him for no reason, they hated on him because he sucked. Just because he wasn't expected to be good doesn't excuse the fact that he was a glaring liability in coverage.
It will be interesting to see if they give McKnight more work as a DB. He really hasn't done much work on offense anyway. Depending on his ability to convert back to DB skills it might actually be better to move him there. The Jets can probably get better "excess" RB talent at this stage than DB talent. Just a thought.
This is incredibly misleading. Inevitable cuts to J.Smith, Scott, Pace, and Eric Smith alone wipe 30 million off the cap. We'll also have some bargaining power on cutting Harris's numbers down, given that he is underperforming and his cap hit is 4 million more than his dead money would be. We're by no means in cap hell. If worse came to worse, we could eat a lot of dead money in '13 to she'd bad contracts and end up ready to spend in '14, but that's probably not necessary
Probably a better question (though there is no way for us to answer) is who might be available in a trade?
I would say don't go mortgaging the future for a one year replacement. First, we have to see if we can hold up with what we have (probably not). Then, we have to see if it's worth giving up picks or players to get a CB who may not salvage the situation anyway. If we look like we're a corner away from the playoffs, then I'm all for a trade. Otherwise, sign or stay put.
We wouldn't be trying to trade for a Revis-caliber CB. It would be for a nickel or #2 CB who has slipped down on another teams roster. I don't see a need for a mortgage there - more like a 4th or a 3rd or even a 5th.
Third or fourth is still a bit high for my taste. We already don't have enough depth or playmakers, and 3 or 4 rounders are not bad picks although with the way we drafted this year (basically scrapping half of our picks before they ever saw a regular season game) it may be worth a shot.
Strickland needs to be brought back. He is very solid in the nickel. He just has to stay healthy. I DO NOT WANT TO SEE COLEMAN IN A JETS UNIFORM EVER AGAIN.
no he plays for the Jags and he is a Free Saftey, James Inhedigo and Brodney Pool are availble but there safteys as well
What about bringing in lito sheppard to be a number 3 or 4 corner. Hes 31, not crazy old and has played in rexs D.
Once he goes on IR, the non paid salary is not subject to our salary cap, thus saving us money on the cap. to the best of my knowledge.
