I was a supporter of Greene but its just obvious this guy can't carry the load. I've said it before, we should have picked up Cedric Benson while he was out there.
Greene stinks. Every time he has the ball he slams into defenders like a piece of metal towards a magnet, 2, 3 yards a carry. Please start Powell.
I was/am a big Greene supporter, but seriously, it's obvious this guy isn't and shouldn't be our every down back. BP had a pretty good solid game.
I've stood behind Greene for a while, but Powell's really showing he could very well split carries with Greene. Honestly I like the idea of a 50/50 split between the 2 with Powell getting the goal line carries. Tebow.. just go away.
Greene has some unfortunate qualities He can't make people miss, he can't run over people (except Cromartie), and he gets dinged or hurt on every tackle. Don't see how these 3 qualities translate into first string. I still didn't mention pass block or catching.....
Well, do we have a good read on how good Powell is in those areas (serious question)? I don't recall seeing any pass attempts targeting Powell yet. Of course, with Greene the incumbent the bar isn't terribly high...
Powell is supposedly a good blocker. He dropped the pass from Sanchez on 3rd down but also had a nice catch and run on a screen pass
he's great at picking up the blitz and that Sanchez throw was behind him if Sanchez led him that was a touchdown. Watch the replay he had to turn his hips to catch that, bad throw
In short, Greene has one killer instinct that no other RBs in ENTIRE FUCKING NFL has. You know what that is? Greene is a human defense magnet. He is magnetically drawn to the wall of defenders on every hand off.
I disagree about drafting a RB high next year. We have had holes on our OL and now would be a good time to rotate in some young, very high quality players into the offensive line. Do this for multiple reasons: 1. An excellent OL will allow even mediocre RBs to look good. It is possible we could move forward even with the RBs we have now or a reasonably cost effective FA upgrade. 2. An excellent OL will protect the QB better and improve the pass game. I don't care if Sanchez is a game changer (I don't think he is) but giving him a stud line can make him look better. 3. Any top tier linesman brought in now would reach his prime around the time Brick of Mangold are approaching retirement. The would give us three potential studs on the line now and only one to replace in later years. The way I see it, the OL is actually a cheap way to build an offense. You can get away with much more modest talent at the other positions the better your OL is--all the better for your offense if you can squeeze some real talent into the other positions. We already have a good TE, but our WR corps and RBs are mediocre. It would take longer and cost more to improve both of them than to augment this OL. That said, I am not making an argument for settling for mediocrity throughout the rest of the offense--I merely believe that this approach will allow us a quicker fix and allow us to use whatever talent we have at the moment to it's fullest potential while potentially preserving the Jets' OL as the class of the NFL for years to come. But that is just my $.02
 Well all we need to do is push the "magnetic" wall of defenders back into the end zone then. C'mon O-Line, you can do it! :breakdance:
Watching the ravens patriots game and seeing how ray rice is explosive just makes me dislike Greene. He lacks speed and seems to only gain 3 yards and runs into walls of defenders. Powell played better and I think the CS would be blatantly lying to themselves if they thought Greene was better than Powell at this point.
T-Bomb disagrees vehemently. Bad teams usually are known for bad OL. I have never seen a terrible QB that had a kick-ass OL. Let me know if you find one.
I like Greene, but i'm starting to realize that he is not a starting caliber RB. I think he would be much better as a back that you use at the end of games to wear down a defense
