http://blogs.thescore.com/nfl/2011/...e+Tape+Never+Lies:+Breaking+down+the+Cover+0+ Really really interesting read... won't paste because pictures in the article are needed to understand. This is one great site (they also did an explanation on how the Steelers stopped the Jets on 3rd down last Sunday). (this is the Jets - Steelers article -> http://blogs.thescore.com/nfl/2012/...-the-steelers-stopped-the-jets-on-third-down/ )
thank u....but we dont need the link cause one of the many TGG coordinators can give us a complete explanation.
that's a Canadian sports channel that was a joke a decade ago and is now becoming more legit. They started out broadcasting Canadian university football and nobody took it seriously....but because of them, people actually pay attention to CIS football now. They're basically the go-to network for niche sports...so they are basically the only place you see basketball on TV in Canada and they also show Thursday and Friday night NCAA football. They've also started The Score Fighting Series which is locally trained MMA and is awesome. One thing I have never known them for is their technical knowledge, but maybe that's changing.
There's a few things he oversimplified but that is a good article. Props to the Score for trying to educate people and not just showing highlights and giving us Colin Cowherd style analysis. The alignment of the slot corner isn't really a tell on this play...partly because he and Revis were confused and partly because on Cover 0 or any man coverage with a slot or trips, the nickel could shade the receiver to either side or play him head up, it all depends on the situation, formation, field position, and what other defenders are doing on the play. The less ball watchers out there, the better. Take Your Eye Off The Ball by Pat Kirwan is a great book for football fans who want to learn more about the game.
The Jets are often seen using this coverage not only because they blitz so much, but also because they have several defensive backs that can hold up in coverage while the exotic blitzes dialed up by head coach Rex Ryan and defensive coordinator Mike Pettine get to quarterbacks. This made me check the date of the article...
