Surprised about White. I can't believe Chaz had a body of work that justified keeping him over White. Have to think his guaranteed $$ played a huge part in that decision.
I liked White, but he didn't show enough consistency in camp. He showed nothing that makes me think he can be a difference maker in the pros. He still might be a decent receiver, but he doesn't have elite physical ability, and he has a litany of injuries in his past. Surprised Ganaway got cut, but that's the thing with running backs: they bounce around. The Jets rarely seem to cut their draft picks, which is why this was surprising.
WR and RB looks really shallow at the moment. The numbers aren't bad but the people who are in the mix had injuries in camp and the depth looks suspect.
Nobody thinks that some of the names available on the waiver wire today factored into cutting White and Ganaway?
Its not from what I want....I just think he might have burnt his bridges by saying that. Much like when Jacobs cursed out Rex Ryan, it was just a stupid decision that will end up turning away a suitor when its all said and done. Branch doesn't respect the Jets, and almost led the team to get stripped of draft pick(s) for "tampering" before he became a Seahawk. He clearly has shown no sense of wanting to become a Jet.
So that aussie rugby player made the team and who is Damon Harrison? Never heard either one of these guys named call the whole training camp.
Surprise That Jay Richardson was cut. The Jets are gonna regret cutting Jordan White hopefully he comes back to the practice squad. I would have dropped Schillens he will be injured all year taking up a spot. Too many linebackers were kept and who is the 3rd TE?
So we cut both 6th round picks and our 7th? I read a tweet how we only have 2 starters beyond first round picks since like 2007. Greene and Harris.
not for nothing, but he had a couple of drops that i can recall off the top of my head....those drops got him cut...he was drafted not because of his physical skill but bc of his hands...his hands didnt come with him to camp. if he makes it to the practice squad then great...if not, oh well.
Slauson is the left guard also. It's still not a very good record. When you don't find starters in the mid to late draft your payroll and cap get pretty silly over time. The rookie deals are part of that but also the fact that you will never get a successful 1st or 2nd round pick to sign an economical deal or extension the second time around. If you hit a bargain on a 5th, 6th or 7th rounder you may well get him extended at less than full price if you do it early enough. He's still just damn glad to have a job in the NFL going into his third season or so. 3rd and 4th rounders are going to be pretty expensive if they work out. But 1st and 2nd rounders are going to cost you a mint.
Connor is the starting FB and McKnight is the starting KR and Kenrick Ellis is being groomed to the future starting NT. Stephen Hill might start as the 2nd WR too.
Very good question. Guy got plenty of praise in camp. Team lacks depth at safety. Some weird stuff going on
Aren't the Jets $6 million under the cap? I know Vrentas and Cimini are quoting "sources" who said the Jets had a meeting where it was determined that moderately priced veterans were on the bubble, but with $6 Million to spare, it seems like penny pinching. Finding it hard to believe.
