I am more sick of hearing people bitch about their opinions rather than just dismissing them, or better yet, just stop paying attention. if all you want to hear is how great the Jets will be, just talk to yourself.
I've noticed much more negativity this year than I've ever seen following the Jets, even after 4-12 seasons. People don't have to blindly worship the Jets, and should definitely speak their mind, but a lot of the hate is really uncalled for and most of it is blind bashing, which isn't based on any facts whatsoever. "Sanchez sucks! He threw a pick against Carolina!!" That type of nonsense that shows that the person is not even paying attention to the game, only hunting for negative stats. There's a big difference between honest negative opinions based on football and blind religious bashing of the Jets and everyone in the organization.
I'll second this. I'm not an NBA fan, but I follow the NHL, NFL, and MLB religiously, and I have never in my life seen such over the top, baseless, and constant bashing of any team in any of those leagues as the "reporting" on the Jets this past offseason, and this preseason.
The Jets have brought this upon themselves...Hard Knocks, Rex's predictions, Tebow, the toxic locker room...The only way to turn the tide is to STFU and win some games...Let's beat the F'in Bills and have some fun with this team...
And the nonstop Bitchfest just continues unabated over at ESPN New York with Dave Rothenberg right this very second. "Mike Tannenbaum has destroyed the team!" and "Mike Tannenbaum must answer for the failure of the Jets this season!". Well let me ask YOU something Mr. Rothenberg! Are YOU willing to answer for the decisions YOU'VE MADE as a professional sports talk host? Are you willing to STEP DOWN FROM YOUR POSITION if the Jets finish better than 8-8 this year and make the playoffs? Yes Mr. Rothenberg, if Mike Tannenbaum should answer for the professional decisions he's made in his job should YOU answer for the decisions you've made at yours? Shouldn't ESPN fire you sir if you turn out to be incorrect in your predictions? Wouldn't this indicate that YOU are no damn good at YOUR JOB sir? Maybe if the jobs of some of these sports talk people were on the line if their statements and predictions turned out to be false we'd have a whole lot less mindless bitchfesting and more sensible sports analysis across the dial...
I already know that if the Jets beat the Bills week 1 and look great doing it, every talking head is just gonna say "Now that their new offense they've been hiding is on tape, it won't work from this point on".
I think this year will be similar to 2006. No one thought the Jets would be as good as they ended up being that season. Looking at how the Jets have played in preseason it's not hard to see why they say those bad things about the Jets. Seeing the way they moved the ball on offense on Sunday night gave me the impression that the offense wont be as bad as people think.
i cant blame them not everythign will go wrong, but most of the stuff they point out is a legitmate concern or potential concern. we do have legit question marks at EVERY offensive position outside of center.
After the Giants lost Plaxico they were forced to rely on some unproven receivers named "Victor Cruz", "Dominic Hixon", "Hakeem Nicks", and "Mario Manningham"... How did that work out for them? I don't recall any of these reporters destroying the Giants week after week for it do you? There was no hysteria and no blame as far as I remember. The fact is it doesn't matter what the Jets do, IT WILL ALWAYS BE WRONG TO THE SPORTS TALK FOOLS!
Howard Stern is your answer: Researcher: The average radio listener listens for eighteen minutes. The average Howard Stern fan listens for - are you ready for this? - an hour and twenty minutes. Pig Vomit: How can that be? Researcher: Answer most commonly given? "I want to see what he'll say next." Pig Vomit: Okay, fine. But what about the people who hate Stern? Researcher: Good point. The average Stern hater listens for two and a half hours a day. Pig Vomit: But... if they hate him, why do they listen? Researcher: Most common answer? "I want to see what he'll say next."
Lets be honest. Going in to preseason the Jets had more Media attention than any team in the league. If they had come out in preseason and dominated everyone they played, the media would be talking up how good they are gonna be. Instead, you guys came out and laid an egg. You played offense worse than any team in 35 years. Thats why everyone says you are going to suck.
