i think skip bayless is an idiot, i'd be the first to admit that, but he did make a good point. so far in all the snap's that tebow has taken, he's never really in the shotgun with a RB in the backfield (like he's never been in the offense that he accels in). clearly tebow can't throw the ball and he will never be our starting QB (atleast i hope so), but if he's in, we should atleast try to do what he's best at

I'm not playing the SOJF card, it's a stupid concept anyway when you think about it, all fan-bases have fans that have negative perceptions on their team. The NY Jets just so happen to be in NY so well our perception is widely known. I wasn't at the game so I wouldn't know who chanted for him, but whoever did saw him play awful in the 2nd half against 2nd and 3rd stringers. The players are prob used to it at this point anyway. Oh and I'm sure there's an old-school Jet fan that got drunk on Tebow Juice and turned into a Tebot. Jet fans are always impatient, always wanting results day one. Were developing a new offense and the defense is playing outstanding. They are so impatient some want Rex fired this year if he doesn't make the playoffs.
In the 42 years since our last Super Bowl appearance, Jet fans have been a loyal bunch. Those SOJF's that are always demeaned here by HOMERS are the ones that kept this team in the TriState area instead of getting moved to.. LA, Jacksonville, Charlotte, Oakland perhaps. Had we abandoned this team in the 80's, Hess would have either moved this team or sold it. Woody Johnson would have been able to buy this team for a lot less than the 600mil he shelled out as the franchise would have been worth a lot less. Yeah, we're impatient and we have every right to be. We don't try to turn losses into wins nor do we brag about big game losses as if moral victories count in the NFL. I don't expect you newcomers to get it, but I'm getting sick and f'n tired of all the criticism we SOJF's get around here. Who do you think brought the PSL's in the Meadowlands? You youngins would have a helluva time just coming up with the cash for a season ticket let alone keep them for generations. Who do you think brought the swag all these years keeping this woebegone franchise afloat? Guess what? After following this team since 1965, if I want to be critical, I will be critical. If I want to boo their asses for shitty play, I will boo them. We are nearly 3 generations removed from '65, and a mere decade away from '97. But, i doubt that fan longevity has any correlation with like or dislike of the support observed for players of any era. It seems the only fans bitchin about Tebow are the one's on this forum. You should be bitchin about the use of the players, and the inability of these coaches to bring in anything but overpaid pre-madonnas (if there's more to them, the coaches aren't doing a good job bringing it out).
Yeah yeah. Just because you've been loyal doesn't mean you get a free pass to trash the organization whenever your emotions get the best of you (not you directly but negative fans in general). That's a false sense of entitlement based on a stereotype. I know plenty of old fans that are positive and young fans that are negative. It's really an outlook on life, IMO. You either see the glass half full or half empty and that's how everything goes. Not just the Jets. It wasn't negative nancies that kept the Jets moving all these years, it was the fans that loved the team and stuck around through thick and thin, that went to the games and purchased merchandise that kept this team around. :lol: For some reason I doubt that the negative SOJFs are the ones that still buy season tickets. Some fans that do might have been around longer, but seriously when somebody has given up on the team and constantly criticizes everything that ever happens, it's obvious that they are not buying season tickets, and I honestly don't believe that it's strictly the old timers who are negative. I'm more than convinced that the "SOJF" crowd is a mix of old, young and trolls from other teams. You do have every right to be critical, however there's a big difference between honest criticism and complaining about every single thing that ever happens. This is the type of fan I cannot stand. Some people can be negative but are honest in their assessments and talk facts and stats, while others just slam players, call them derogatory names, and attack the coaches and others in a blindly religious manner. People like that deserve every bit of criticism they get and I do admit I'm often the one to call them out on it. I just feel that kind of hatred is distasteful and reflects poorly on the Jets organization and the Jets fan base. I think it's time to raise the bar, as Jets fans. Seriously, though, claiming people don't know what it's like to be a fan because they haven't suffered as bad as you is a bit silly. You don't have to always suffer as a Jets fan. The last few years have been decent overall. Even the old timers have to notice this, if they've seriously been suffering that long, the Rex Ryan era should make them ecstatic. Luckily for the younger fans this organization is turning the corner. Positivity keeps things moving. I don't see the purpose of stressing yourself out over a competitive game. If anything in life made me as angry as that, I'd try to remove it from my life.
I agree. And claiming sunshine and rainbows doesn’t mean you are a better fan. Longtime Jets fans have suffered in every way a football fan can suffer. We sometimes need to be wary of sunshine as a defense mechanism. Also about the “darksiders” term. IMO the darksiders are Jet fans that personally attack other Jet fans for not having the same opinion as them. Its one thing to disagree and debate and another thing to only post “you’re a retard”. People that devote their entire posts to personal attacks are the real darksiders on this forum. We are all fans of the same team.

Good post ouchy. It's been getting worse here by the day. If you voice the opinion that the Jets will simply not be that good this year (which I have done), it's almost instantly met with numerous posts of "SOJF!". I can say I picked them to go 11-5 last year, say that I think they will have a top 5 defense this year, etc, but those are all ignored at the first criticism. It doesn't make any sense. I'm using myself as an example, but it's been rampant with a lot of posters.

Amen. I can't stand prima donna homers who literally have shit fit because another fan of the team questions the team. What thin skins they have. Grow a pair and be willing to take an honest look at the team. And if you think other fans are off base for substantive reasons, then make the argument and avoid the name calling. I know the Jets made it to the Champ game in 9 and 10. I know those were accomplishments. They were better than if the Jets did not make it. And I enjoyed each of those runs. Those runs, though, do not inoculate the Jets from examination of what ails them today. I just laugh at the whining homers.
