He looked sluggish the first game, he made a number of plays the next game, and then he dominated the third. Doesn't sound like you watched any of them, though. So you can just go on about your business as if you had no opinion on the matter. Because apparently, you don't.
You're right! I've been on a two week road trip to Glacier, Yellowstone, and the Tetons! I only got to catch the third game! Thanks for the fucking attitude. Actually thanks for the first part of your post.
the offense may be offensive, but the defense appears to be shaping up really nicely. i'm looking forward to that. just love to see a smothering defense causing three-and-out after three-and-out.
Kenrick = BEAST! Like Bart Scott I can't wait to see Rex unleash hell upon the Pats' über weak O Line.
This was the player I was most excited about from the 2011 class. I was skeptical after he was basically a ghost during his rookie year, but his preseason play has impressed the hell out of me. This D-line went from being a significant weak spot going into the 2011 draft, to being one of our most talent laden areas just a year and a half later. People cropping up knocking Tanny and Rex for not addressing O-line or "areas of need" haven't been paying attention.
i'm sure it has been mentioned, but it must be a great relief for ellis to have the legal weight lifted from his shoulders. i know he still has some time to serve, but having all the questions answered and a basically-clean slate must have really given him a boost.
Don't forget another key off season acquisition, D Line coach Karl Dunbar. Hands down best in the league.
I was just about to post I bet a lot of second year players around the league break out this year because of the lack of training camp last season. Then I realized our 2 2nd year D linemen also have the benefit of probably the best D line coach in the NFL. Ellis has improved game to game in the preseason but he looked flat out scary against the Panthers. Looked like a player who is in his prime not someone who is still coming into his own and didn't do anything last year. He had a great first step and I don't think I've ever seen a man that big pull a spin move like that before. I really hope to see him and Pouha on the field at the same time this season. I hope we play mostly 4-3 D with Devito being the one rotating around to give everyone a break.
They don't even have to be on the field at the same time for maximum effectiveness. Just imagine how fresh the D line could be in the 4th quarter of games...
Thats very true. Nothing more frustrating than at the end of games for the last 2 years seeing our D tired and not able to get to the QB giving him all day to find a receiver. Hopefully a fresh D line and Maybin who doesn't play all game will be fresh and ready to go after it. We need to find ways to finish games better this could help that.
I'd love to see Pouha and Ellis in the middle, with Mo and Coples at the ends. Rotate Devito Maybin and Richardson along with 3-4 looks and they can definitely stay fresh. Just wish we had more depth at our OLB spot instead of old man Pace and Thomas.
Ellis It seems like the name ellis .has prosperd in pro football.i HOPE IT WORKS OUT WELL FOR THE JETS
Maybin is about 100 lbs too light to pay 3-4 DE and he will likely be rotating at 3-4 OLB with Demario Davis along with Thomas and Pace, as well as 4-3 DE and if my hunches are correct, we'll probably see him play a down or two as 46 SS shooting gaps.
If Jets do start Ellis and Pouha up front, Ellis should be the 3T. Strongside DE would be Wilk, and weakside DE would be Coples. You can double only one out of the four - I suspect it will be Pouha. Wilk, Ellis and Coples should enjoy going 1-on-1 match ups.
i have a feeling that this DL is just starting to emerge and should improve steadily throughout the season. Looking forward to seeing these guys swarming the pocket all season long and creating havoc for opposing qbs.
