I call your Tebow and raise you Greene & Kerley plus cash for MJD.

The Giants have Bradshaw who is very good and just spent a 1st round pick on a RB so I highly doubt they would try and bring in MJD and waste a 1st round draft pick.

The Redskins do like big moves, but Shanahan just likes to plug in RBs and I think they like their young RBs in Helu (although his Achilles are acting up) and Helu... You never know who is the guy in their backfield.

Lions would be interesting, but they are such a pass happy team, it would be weird seeing MJD there.

It was changed. It was originally just "MJD", so please take your bitching to a different spot.

RB isn't a great a need as RT. We can't afford it. It's not worth it. Sure it would be a wet dream, but so would Peyton Manning. I don't see the Jags taking a deal like that. It's unrealistic based on the money alone. IF we fix RT, then I'd consider something like this, but right now there are much bigger fish to fry and I'm confident Greene will improve once again this season and take us where we need to be (balanced rushing and passing attack).

sorry....guess im tired of the 1000th MJD "i know we can't afford him but he'd be a beast here" thread...literally, the 1000th. im guessing that's why the thread title was changed. ;)

The only thing about RT is that since its such a high need other teams are naturally going to try to rip the Jets off to acquire someone worth less than the compensation required.

The Jets could likely get a hold the fort guy at RT who gets cut in 2 weeks for a million or less and still have a major improvement at the position.

MJD is a luxury which allows the Jets to play hardball for him and try to land a sweet deal. If the Jags want too much then we simply move on.

Don't think the new owner down here in Jacksonville wants to trade him. He doesn't want to come out as being perceived as the loser in this power struggle. MJD has 2 years left on his contract so owner has all the cards.

Jags already said they won't trade him. But it would be sweet (for the right price).

  18. Gotta be honest. Other than "brand name" I don't think you'd see much difference in production between Greene & MJD. Ground & pound..is just that. 3 yards & a cloud of dust unless the run D is weak or the front 7 wears down late. MJD is a better blocker/reciever & perhaps has alittle better break away speed...but he's also got alot more wear on the treads & wants top dollar.

In all honesty the transaction would be more bark than bite.

The Jets wouldn't gain much from trading Greene for MJD. They'd get the better back by far but they'd still have the problem of who the change-of-pace back was going to be and they'd still be short a couple of hundred extra carries for G&P or some modified version of it to be effective.

Basically MJD would give them about 50 extra effective carries and at a somewhat higher level than Greene. He'd catch another 20 balls or so out of the backfield. That's 5.5 extra touches a game and maybe another 300 yards or so on the seasons overall.

If the Jets were going to double down on this year then that's exactly what they should do. Find a way to get MJD and keep Greene and try to reconstitute the 2009 pairing of a mainstay with Greene as the change-of-pace.

They'd still need to find a RT though. That's probably the killer here. It will be hard to fit both MJD and that RT in under the cap.

  20. Yeah..I'm with you on this one Brad. I just don't see it as a groundbreaking move unless you're somehow keeping Greene. If so...MJD/Greene would be a potentially devastating 1-2 punch w/ alot of power. They'd still need to address the RT spot but MJD/Greene/Tebow would be serious ground & pound.
