Sanchez already has one foot out the door. He knows the talent is weak on offense and he knows that he's the scapegoat when things don't go smoothly. Bringing in Tebow put the handwriting on the wall for him and he'd have to be serenely confident or an idiot not to have read it by now. Tebow is not an NFL QB. So he'll get his shot and then the Jets will quickly be in the Elway seat of trying to find a way to get rid of him without causing real embarrassment for the organization and bad feelings among the fans. In a few years nether guy will look back on this year with anything but disgust. It'll be Sanchez first real failure in life and the last time anybody seriously talked about Tim Tebow and quarterbacking. The difference between the two is that Sanchez will likely be somewhere else in the NFL playing and Tebow will be giving speeches at 100,000 strong revival meetings.
Sanchez WAS hot before the pick. He had like 8 completions in a row or something. But yeah. keep bringing the irrational hate.
C'mon! He completed 9 passes for 59 yards. They were all checkdowns and dumpoffs. That's not being "on fire". Seriously. Please. Why not throw 8 shovel passes in a row and say it's a bigtime hot streak?
And Eli completed 7/14 for 69 yards most of which was to Cruz, his best receiver from last season. Are Giants fans calling for his head? Sanchez had 80% completion percentage. Of course he was checking down. Hunter kept letting JPP in, and 3 of top 4 receivers were out. He was playing with a backup and 2 rookies  The hate for Sanchez is absurd on here. Step away from the ledge. It was preseason game 2!!!
Your comment was he was "HOT" before the pick. He was not. Sanchez' longest completion was 12 yards. Give me a break. I'm not criticizing him, I'm asking how you define a series of dumpoffs as "hot".
My guess is that the points of emphasis have been to keep the completion percentage high, move through your progressions/get the ball out quickly and not turn it over. Those are things we've heard Sanchez say are keys from Sparano all preseason. If you're using those points of emphasis to define "hot", he was "hot" prior to the INT. In fact, his only incompletion prior to the INT was a drop. I wish Sparano would make his "chunk plays" a point of emphasis because I'm sick of the dink and dunk shit. Look at the difference between the INT's of Sanchez and Eli. Eli's was like a punt. Sanchez' was 6 points.
Give me a break. When you have no room to breathe then checkdowns are about all you reaosnably have time for. The Jets don't put him in a position to succeed. No QB in the league would succeed under these circumstances.
I haven't heard Sanchez or Sparano talk about 3rd down conversions like they have the other things I mentioned. I'm not saying that's a good thing, it just is what it is.
I hear what you are saying and I can't disagree. If by "not throwing incomplete passes while ignoring the yards per completion", then yes....he was on fire. Seriously though....."hot" should not be used to describe any portion of that performance. Keep in mind, I'm not blaming him. No separation from WR's and no time from the OL is unfair to him. But "hot"? C'mon? How many first downs and TD's did that "hot streak" lead to?
Sanchez is captain check down. I don't care if he has no other option but he has options. Our receivers are open. The biggest problem though is the offensive line. He checks down BECAUSE he has no time.
With the O Line as it is we may need 8 QBs ,cant be long till Mark picks up some sort of injury ,this will leave TT running for his life each week ..
guys to blame the fact there are young guys in there for not running downfield routes is a bit absurd. the easiest route in all of football to run is a go route. with a post being a close second. young guys have more trouble running outs and comebacks and those type of things because they are timing routes. running deep is all about speed, getting off the line and wanting the ball. i think these guys can do that.
I think he meant to say he used fire to light a joint that he smoke before answering that question and it was hot.
Those were his words. He was still getting completions, rather than throwing the ball away or forcing a dangerous pass.
Eh, I dunno about that. We ran it A LOT on 3rd last night. Sanchez got them into 3rd and short situations, that normally should be converted. That's a sign of him doing the right thing on 1st and 2nd down. Moving the chains is the job of the entire offense, not just Sanchez. I don't think I saw a single play action pass last night.
I agree - to you and I, it clearly wasn't "HOT". They may be looking at it in different terms is all I'm saying. We don't know what the objectives for these preseason games are. What we still haven't seen are the "chunk plays" Sparano talks about. I don't know if that's something he's just keeping under wraps or what. Maybe he's just trying to get these guys to get the efficiency thing down before he goes for the "chunk plays". Maybe I'm just being overly optimistic.
