Not jumping on you at all, just expanding... too early?! It hasn't even started yet. The season hasn't even started yet. Yes, the offense hasn't started yet. But yes, the offense hasn't started yet. Geez. New offense hasn't really gotten into full swing. They are still checking protections (so far not great) and run blocking (ok so far) and routes (with injured receivers). I mean, c'mon peoples. WTF?
How about thinking long.... They are not showing SHIT. They went 12 personnel in third and medium repeatedly. That tells me, they want to keep the offense under wraps, to gain an advantage for the first three weeks. Like buffalo did last year, which is whT Fitzs contract was ridiculous.
Can't kill Sporano yet. The reg season hasn't started. But his main issue is personnel at this point.
If you want to teach a new blocking scheme not throwing deep, keeping the D playing up with 9 or 10 in the box is a pretty good way to force the OL to block and hit their assignments. Pretty smart to make it as tough as possible for the OL when it doesn't count. If it gets Sanchez killed even better.
I was surprised that, near the end of the game they showed Rex on the sideline and he didn't look pissed or angry. He just had kind of a, "ho hum, no biggie" look on his face.
Too early? He was fired for a reason. Only reason Rex got him was he was always a torn in his flesh. Other coaches have figured his gimmicks out except us and we are going to be in for a long season. I hope my pessimistic outlook is just that, an outlook and not reality.
He wasn't an offensive coordinator in Miami, he was the head coach. He's not showing his scheme in the preseason. It's all vanilla shit.
I will gladly defer, but be ready for a huge backlash if we are slow to start against the Bills. Mario Williams against Wayne will be atrocious. This will make whatever they have planned changed big time. So you have no concerns at all about Sporano so far?
What does any of that have to do with what we're seeing from a scheme perspective in the preseason? I'm not sold on Sparano at all, but I am not passing judgement on his scheme/playcalling based on some preseason games. That's almost as funny as making QB judgements based on practice stats. No one is going to argue that Wayne Hunter doesn't suck at life. Our chances on offense are ruined if we go into the season with him as a starter.
No game planning in the preseason three receivers, including 2 starters, are injured. Judgment must reserved until the regular season.
What really worries me is all this talk about Sparano not showing anything because its the preseason. Its better to wait until the regular season, when losses count, to start calling plays you've never tried out in a game situation? Does anyone here really think this Jets offense will suddenly morph into some kind of Juggernaut because its the regular season? Rex flips a switch and we become the premier GnP team he want us to be? I don't think the GnP can win in a pass oriented league w/o a defense on par with the 2000 Ravens or the '85 bears. Especially with this OLine that frankly, is a shell of what it used to be. I'm thinking it might be a good idea to find out if some of those "secret plays" actually work in real life or only on the practice field. What do we have to lose anyway? Its not like we're scoring TD's on a record pace.
As much as Hackett sucked, the O under Hackett was still the primary reason Herm's teams made it to the playoffs. Shotty may have sucked as well but he wasn't the problem with the O. Our QB has been told over and ove again by the HC to not blow games instead of telling him over and over to go out and win games.
You guys don't need to be too upset. We played Marc Colombo, the human turnstile, last year, and this year we drafted a guy in the second round who is far worse than both Colombo and Hunter.
How do you know what the HC is telling Sanchez? Are you a member of the inner circle who attends all the QB meetings and pre-game meetings?
I agree. The lack of practice time bothers me too Holmes & Kerley haven't practiced much, no Wildcat whatever it's gonna be during preseason so far, Tebow's gonna play with the starters during the regular season but he hasn't gotten any reps with the starters during the preseason. It does seem like they think they'll flip a switch on Sept. 9th and everything will be alright.
If this offense cant score more then 14pnts a game, it will be a long season. We will lose most of the games. Defense will be frustrated and by the next summer, we will be losing a lot of good players on that side.
The 2 top returning Wrs are out, our 1st team O hasn't played much, we've had a million penalties, the OL has struggled. This is what preseason is for, the goal is not to score 50 a game. it's to get work in during game situations and get out healthy.
that is the scary part, Rex seems to care mainly that his defense get accolades and he is a defensive genius, instead of the team wining.....
