Since 2010 means without Braylon Edwards, Damien Woody, Jerrico Cotchery, Tony Richardson, Brad Smith, Ben Hartsock, Robert Turner and now LaDainian Tomlinson (2011).

None of those players have been adequately replaced in the offense. Not a single player's contribution level from 2010 is built into what will happen on offense in 2012. The 2012 Jets offense is a pale copy of what we had in 2010.

In 2010 Braylon Edwards could lift Mark Sanchez play just like Sanchez could lift Edwards at times. They were both quality players who could use a little help to get over the top and they often put each other over the top. You think Stephen Hill is going to lift Mark Sanchez play in 2012? You think Sanchez is going to be able to make Hill's limited contributions relevant given all the other problems in play?

In 2010 Nick Mangold could help out Wayne Slauson more because Damien Woody didn't require Brandon Moore's assistance very often. D'brickashaw Ferguson got to play on his version of the island and did very well that year. Last year Ferguson was helping out Slauson and Mangold was dealing with his own issues early and helping out Moore later on as Moore frantically bailed on the right side to prevent it from becoming a total Wayne Hunter inspired disaster. One guy in the line doesn't hold up his end and the effect reverberates up and down the line dragging other guys down in the process.

In 2010 Tony Richardson was there to keep things glued together in the clubhouse. No way Holmes starts muttering with a guy like that to set him straight. And Richardson had no skin in the game at all. He knew he was on the way out at 39 he just wanted to see things done right. See if John Conner can fill *that* role when the $10 million dollar diva starts trouble.

This is much more Rex's fault rather than Tannenbaum's. Rex's philosophy of ground and pound is outdated in today's NFL, especially when we don't have the best personnel to run it. He forced Shotty to call conservative, run-oriented games which led to his demise. He then brought in Sprano who's 100% behind the ground and pound philosophy with minimal audibles, shifts, and hot routes which are necessary for an effective passing offense.

I still think we can successfully run this offense, but even when ran successfully, this offense will never be able to score a lot of points. There is a cap to this offense's effectiveness.

Also, Tannenbaum is not a talent evaluator. He has guys under him, including Rex, who perform these duties and tell him where the team is lacking. Tannenbaum's job is to coordinate the team personnel, the coaches, the trainers, and the scouts, as well as maintaining relationships with other teams in order to broker trades. Ever since Rex has been here, the team has lost the talent the Mangini compiled and has not replaced them effectively. There seems to be very poor evaluation of where the team is weakest. This is due to Rex's unfamiliarity with offense, his outdated ground and pound philosophy, and his prioritization of defense over offense. We had the chance to draft linemen early on in this year's draft, but we didn't. We had the chance to bring in a free agent lineman, but we instead brought in safeties and Tebow. Last year when Sanchez initially struggled with more responsibility on offense, Rex decided to switch back to ground and pound instead of letting Sanchez grind through and learn from his mistakes.

All of that being said, with our defense, and how weak our schedule is this year, I still expect us to go at least 9-7 (I'm predicting 10-6).

Crazy how sports is. Just a year ago everybody was praising Tanny as the best GM ever, Fast forward one year and he's dog shit and deserves to drown in a swamp.

Shit is crazy out here son!

Instead of firing Tanny, we should fire Hunter.

Looking at 2010 vs 2011, the main thing that dropped off was our running game.

2010: #4 in the league rushing, #22 in passing, 11th overall
2011: #22 in the league rushing, #21 in passing, 25th overall (strange not sure how the average of 22 and 21 becomes 25th this based on NFL.com)

We need to get that rushing game back, and signs of that looked good tonight. Greene was looking beastly, but the pass protection sucked, especially from Hunter. If we can get passing game up to #15 or better, and rushing as well we'll be in decent shape.

Mike T is an above average GM but I just wish he had more patience and stuck to longevity. There is way too much roster turnover and very little continuity

Since Faneca left, the line has rapidly fallen apart. No one is replaced. And we make no emergency moves. When Pittsburgh's line was falling apart mid-season they went and signed Max Stark. We just sit there and watch our revolving door at right tackle let Sanchez get impaled every week.

The receivers are hot garbage. To think Chaz Schillens, who has never gone 4 straight weeks without getting hurt, would solve the problem of losing Plax is a joke. Kerley is a wr4. PT is sub-par. We have no playmakers. No speed. And a QB who goes deer in the headlights if the first read is not open. I won't kill Tannebaum because I appreciate his aggression when he uses it. But these 2 areas have been killing the team. No o-line, no point in showing up.

Don't stop with Turner, he also gave Sanshit a raise and guaranteed two more years of Holmes too.

I don't think Tanny needs to go ,,,just yet but it amazes me that at times he and the rest of the organization think they are smarter than the rest of the world ! I mean they never admit a mistake or it seems they never learn from mistakes especially regarding the offensive line,,,,Adrian Clarke ,,,,Pete Kendall,,,now this Wayne Hunter fiasco ! Most of us knew last year that hunter should not be on the field,,,,yet it was not addressed, he'll they gave the guy a raise,,,,the offensive line needs time to gel and must play as a unit,,so now with 2 weeks left they are going to bring someone in to put out this firestorm when they knew about this for a year already ? What am I talking about , they are such geniuses and are reinventing the wheel that they will probably stick with Wayne Hunter and bring no one in

Well, I think as some have said, this can be a make or break season for him and Rex

Nah roster got better from 2009-2010 to 2010-2011. We added Holmes to Braylon which was a big help and added LT and Cromartie that year. No way roster got worse from 09-10 to 10-11.

I think firing Tanny is an overreaction. He obviously needs to get better at evaluating the talent he has but I'm not ready to throw him out just yet.

Mr. T is the best GM this organization has had in a looooong time. Hunter sucks and everybody obviously knows that hence Otah. Its not like the FO doesn't realize WFH sucks. Alot of teams are looking for a RT not just the Jets. I'm guessing Slauson can't slide out to RT or else they would have done it by now. Somebody else is going to have to step up and perform. This is a great opportunity for Austin Howard to win a starting RT job. He's a massive guy, just needs to be better than WFH, and its difficult to imagine that he could be any worse.

The Jets could have fired Hunter easily. They chose to re-hire him instead. And when I say 'The Jets' I mean Mike Tannenbaum.

We still have Terry Bradway as the head of scouting. What does that say about this team?

There's no rushing game without an offensive line. We have 3 good players on a five man unit.

The Jets shouldn't have to rely on a fullback for leadership. Conner was one of the few bright spots last night.

I do like Tanny, he makes good moves, however he is has let this team collapse in on itself by drafting and picking up players that aren't our biggest needs. You can't disguise problems by enhancing other areas. I'm actually liking the Tebow trade more and more because he might be the only guy on our roster who can deal with having no time to throw the ball. idk anymore!:pats_suck:

It's easy to tell that you aren't a Jets fan. 'Losing Plax'? Really? The guy was a fucking boat anchor with a prison record. And the line did well after losing Faneca. Not so well after losing Woody.

I suspect Woody Johnson would disagree with this. I think Woody will keep both guys around thru the '13 season. After that, all bets are off if this team continues its slide to palookaville.
