I could NOT have said it any better than what Barcs has just posted here! "Te(blow)me" is indeed a good "football player/athlete". Would make for a nice tail-back or a kick/punt returner. His primary "skill-set" - running -, would be most effective in fake punts, k.o. double-reverses, 2-pt conversions & short-yrdg gains. Screw the so-called "Vile-Kat" offense as defenses will flood the box. Te(blow)me was "praised" as something "special" for catching a host of defenses off-guard last season with his "talent" for scrambling as he rushed for 660 yds on 122 attempts. So WHAT!?? Mike Vick gained 589 yds on only 76 rush attempts while throwing for over 3,000 yds!!! Does that make him special too!!?? Sure Te(blow)me might be useful in certain off. sets/spec.team play with tricks-gimmicks-hocus-pocus-Harry Houdini-magic plays designed by "Phony" Sparano, but do you INSANE "Te-pots" HONESTLY BELIEVE that Te(blow)me, in passing situations, would be more effective than Mark!!?? Go to YOU-TUBE & just LOOK at his "passing hi'lites"!!! My $$$ is on Mark. Just you wait & see........! 23Mark Sanchez, QBNYJ 543 308 56.7 3,474 6.40 74 26 18 39 28Tim Tebow, QB DEN 271 126 46.5 1,729 6.38 56 12 6 33
Not sure who's insulted you, unless being challenged on your hyperbole is insulting. You didn't just suggest *some* folks think Tebow is better than Sanchez, you said "quite a few people are saying Tebow is better and will be starting for Mark." I asked you to name two people, and so far you haven't been able to. Even FakeSpike13 hasn't said much more than that he doesn't think Sanchez is clearly better (at least from what I've read.) The vast Tebow conspiracy is a figment of some folks imagination. One or two voices in the wilderness suggesting Sanchez isn't better than Tebow is a far cry from a horde of raving fans ready to descend upon the next Jets home game with pitchforks if Tebow doesn't start. That said, I agree any talk of Tebow being even on equal footing with Sanchez for the starting job is silly.
My bad..thought "QFT" meant "quit f'n talking".....not up to speed with internet lingo, so my apologies.
Good one. (I just learned what it meant about a year ago. That's what I get for trying to be internet-urban.)
Exactly. It's not often your QB wins a playoff game and they still give up on him, but Denver's season last year was very strange. They finished the same 8-8 as we did, but somehow they were a feel-good story and we were a disaster. You can't not entertain thoughts of an available Peyton Manning, but the Jets still believe Sanchez can be the guy. Even in the case of Pennington he was around a lot longer already and had been through two surgeries. As it turned out he had one good year left, but he wasn't 26 and healthy.
They didn't give up on him, they got Peyton Manning. The Jets would have traded Sanchez if Peyton had wanted to come play for the Jets. If the Broncos hadn't gotten Peyton, they would have drafted another quarterback to have a backup plan, but they would have continued to work with Tebow. He throws it too hard and works too hard to give up on. The shortcomings he has are supposed to be fixable and improvable (he's just been slow going so far).
Why didn't the Broncos bring in Manning and keep Tebow to back him up, thereby developing his skills for the next couple of years until Manning is done?
I think that would have been smart, just basically do what the Jets are doing with him. But honestly, I think it was a bit of a service to Tebow -- it's unusually for a quarterback to go from starting for a team, winning the division, winning a playoff game, and then reverting immediately to backup for that team. It's a lot to ask. Tebow would have done it, I think. But I think the idea was clean break, fresh start, give Tebow a chance to go after his dream somewhere else. A lot of people try to instantly harp on the "circus" and all that, but I don't think Elway cared. Peyton is the ultimate top-cover for the decision. They should have kept him though -- if they are truly contending for a Super Bowl, and they say they are, they could have used an X-factor to help them make some key plays along the way. But if you say that to them, the internet fans are all "You never ever ever ever take Peyton off the field! Ever!" To which I say, good luck with your Super Bowl as he ages on and on to 40.
Well, one reason is Tebow and Manning and different players therefore he wouldnt learn anything under manning as he cant make half the reads and throws. Second, keeping tebow means have a second playbook for the whole offense because of reason 1 listed above.
Wow is that really what people think???? Elway hated the thought of Tebow as an NFL QB. You could see it in his eyes, the could had a hard time forcing smiles anytime Tebow did good. They gave up on the season last year and figured the hell with it and gave teboys their wish, Tebow was able to muster the team to 8-8. Whether they were right too or not, its obvious they did not want to start this season with Tebow as their starting QB, or frankly with Tebow on their roster. Elway didn't want to hear the backlash for releasing him outright so he grabbed a broken down legend to make it seem like it was something it wasn't. If Manning had signed with anyone else, Tebow would still not be a Denver Bronco today. They knew he wasn't their future QB, or even present QB. They didn't do anything as a favor to Tebow, other than to ask him who he'd rather play for between the only 2 teams that were interested in giving them something in return in NYJ and JAX. In my opinion I think Manning will only be serviceable at best for the remainder of his career and I am thankful the Jets didn't put the full court press on to get him. I also think Tebow should thank his lucky stars every night before bed for what the Broncos did to him because he's never going to hold out in the long term as a full time NFL QB and would've most likely flopped this season as the opening day starter since teams were catching on. The pressures of a starting QB could've easily broken him and he could have seen his release in a couple years. Ending his career in a similar path as other college greats that couldn't hack it as an NFL starter. Instead his got an opportunity in New York to excel in a smaller role, Wildcat/gimmick QB only playing in a style he feels comfortable and not having a team rely on his throwing arm. He can make a name for himself as the Jets backup QB/all-around specialty player and have a longer career than he would have trying to start somewhere.
He'd be a Bronco today. And he'd be fighting with Brock Osweiler for his job. Short of at least an AFCCG appearance this year, he wouldn't be a Bronco next year.
One is the starter, and the other is a Wildcat RB/Punt Protector who steps in at QB if the starter gets injured. Any questions?
And everything past that is... Speculation? Making any opinions on "Sanchez v Tebow" frivolous? Got it.
