This is a highly inaccurate statement... Both have had mixed results in these situations...much like any other QB, sometimes they have come through, and other times they have failed. Tebow threw the ball very well when he was forced to at the end against Miami, Chicago, and Minnesota. Not going to bother to bring up the numbers for you, but in those games when they finally were "forced to loosen the reins and THROW"-as you put it, his completion % actually skyrocketed. He made some nice passes against the *ahem* Jets when they had no choice but to go for it and couldn't afford to sit on the ball any longer as well, although he did make a lot of plays with his feet on that final drive too. Threw the ball very nicely against the Texans as well in 2010 when he was "forced" to throw for over 300 yards. Other games against the Chiefs, Pats, and Bills, he wasn't able to convert when it mattered.
Not going to get baited into an insult war with you.... If you want to ignore the points I made, that's fine... It would be a little more interesting though if you would refute my opinions with opinions of your own rather than just dismissing what I have to say with childish insults.
Can we give the Sanchez vs Tebow shit a rest. We can have a discussion about this if 1 struggles and the other looks good. As it stands they both look not great.
Yo, you're in Orlando. >< Heading to Bonfires in oviedo @ 730ish for the pre-season game if you wanna talk some footballs =D
No from all accounts Sanchez has looked good. Why the hell are just fans debating with a dolphins fan, a Pats fan, and a cowboys fan and just table fans on our qb situation. Brady is good but has struggled in the playoffs the last couple of years but the dolphins had not had a good qb since Marino you should be worrying about that. Rom has only won one playoff game. The Jets are fine at qb just watch and see.
Thanks for the invite, but I prefer to watch the games at home.. Cheaper food and I have a 10 feet HD projector which makes going to watch it anywhere else obsolete.
Lighten up, you're just here to start trouble anyway. Sanchez is clearly the starter, we've seen him have a lot of success already and he's not a finished product yet. Tebow is here to be a better version of Brad Smith, except if something happens to Sanchez he can be the QB. Twist all the numbers you want, it doesn't matter.
You are right...(Not the part about me wanting to start trouble, but the part about Sanchez being the clear starter). I'm just saying he's not light years ahead and I wouldn't be surprised for Tebow to eventually be the starter before year's end. I think Sanchez is the starter because he is the incumbent...but he will only be able to live off that for so long. Results will be expected once the regular season starts, and Mark needs to show that he's taken that next step in what is his 4th year and prove to the Jets that they aren't wasting their time with an average QB (which is exactly what he looks like to me so far). But I also think if the tables were turned and Tebow was the incumbent and Sanchez was the newcomer, Tebow would be the starter, because neither has shown enough in camp to warrant replacing the incumbent...And in that alternate universe, Tebow would be just as likely to lose his job as Sanchez will be, as neither is very consistent. ...So it's my opinion that all this Sanchez build up is just standard talk to try to build your QB's confidence going into the season...It's not anything more than window dressing...Who plays will be decided on the field in the regular season.
Where your logic fails is there's a reason that Sanchez is an incumbent and Tebow was traded from his team. Because the teams saw the guys play, Sanchez's team decided to keep him and Tebow's didn't. Even before Peyton Manning went there, it was well known that Elway and Denver weren't happy with Tebow not moving the ball all game, relying on defense and luck to win games. Conversely, Sanchez has been the starter since he was drafted and this is the first time there's even been another viable option on the roster, if you even want to call Tebow that. I have nothing against Tebow, by the way, but he is what he is. We lacked the Brad Smith wrinkle last year, tried to re-create it but now we have a guy who we can really be effective with again.
Where your logic fails is that a freak situation occured in which one of the best QB's to ever play became available and Tebow was a casualty of that..It's not like he was replaced with David Garrard. ...Of course Manning is the same QB that the Jet's flirted with the idea of trying to pursue...Trust me, if Manning wanted to be a jet they would have kicked Sanchez to the curb in a heartbeat similar to Pennington.
Ever get beyond remedial math? doesn't look like it. Increasing attempts does not increase your interception ratio, your interception ratio is what it is, regardless if you threw 200, 2,000, or 20,000 passes. The Td/int ratio is probably the most important statistic for a qb in impacting wins and losses. Tebow's 2 to 1 td/int ratio is excellent for a young qb, and one of the main reasons the Denver Broncos had a dramatic turnaround last year in going to the playoffs for the first time in 6 years. Sanchize on the other hand has thrown way too many interceptions. One of the main reasons the team has begun to question if they really have a franchise qb on their hands.
It was reported - before courting Manning - that the Broncos were planning to trade Tebow because they didn't have faith in him as a long-term, franchise QB in the NFL; and furthermore, Elway preferred a traditional pocket-passer. The point Italian Seafood was making is that that (what I just stated above), in and of itself, is an indictment of Tebow's current skills as a QB. The types of questions and criticism that Tebow faces were never aimed at Sanchez -- his team didn't give up on him early in his career because they believe he can develop into an upper-echelon QB. (FTR, I've said numerous times that I think Tebow is a good football player and can help the Jets win games; and in the event of a catastrophic injury to Sanchez, he can be a serviceable backup. But to say that he and Sanchez are on par right now is ridiculous.)
Ok guy...only reason I brought that up was because someone else was using tebow being replaced as a reason why Sanchez is clearly better...As if the Jets wouldn't have done the same. Try to catch up with the conversation.
