The jets are ranked 19th...but that is not why I am posting this...honestly....i chuckled when i saw this Edit: My bad forgot to put the link earlier....I've had a long night lol http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap20...alcons-rise-chicago-bears-fall?module=HP11_cp
I see that NFL.com has unleashed their A-team in Elliot Harrison. We're listed as Tebow instead of Jets in case anyone missed it. I've been trying to laugh about it but I just can't seem to... weird.
I remember seeing that when he was with Denver last year. People are ridiculous. He's not the only person on the team for pete's sake. What's worse is it's not his fault. Can't believe they got Ryan Seacrest to write the article......
While the article is silly, the ranking is probably about right. I know people like optimism, but lets be honest. The defense is good, not great, and the offense is most likely going to be horrible again. The HC has possibly lost control of this team. I see a 7-9 to 9-6 team at best, if everything goes right for them.
I can see why you think that copying and pasting the exact same thing from thread to thread will make people more likely to believe it.
I remember last year we were ranked in the top 5 only to drop a little week after week. That kinda sucked. At least this year if all goes to plan 'TEBOW' can rise up a few spots week after week.
I don't really care whether people believe it. I am just hoping people temper their expectations a bit. I am all for optimism, but people are out of control with their expectations for this team. It's nothing better than mediocre.
Power rankings are always basically just a copy paste job from last year. No one in the press is held accountable for not taking into account the changes that occur around the league with the exception of the really major ones (Manning, Mario). Then they have license to fly those teams up the board so as to give the appearance of a dynamic rankings.
There are few things more meaningless than preseason NFL power rankings. Who cares? They play games and have division winners and playoffs in the NFL. All is decided on the field. This is not the BCS (thankfully).
If I remember correctly, the Giants started last year around the same rank on these lists. Just shows how meaningless they are.
Giants #1? I realize they're the defending world champions, but that doesn't mean they're the best team out there right now. I'd put them in the upper half of the league for sure, but not top 5. Patriots, Packers, 49ers, Ravens, and Texans are all more complete teams.
This ranking for the Jets is fair. Right now, there are many teams out there that are better than the Jets. It's all about the quarterback and Mark Sanchez isn't even close to being a great quarterback. You'd be lying if you even said he was good.
If 7-9 is acceptable to Ryan with the team he has now than take a fucking hike. I remember well when we lost Testaverde and Parcells found Ray Lucas who nearly brought us to the playoffs. This game is about winning, not doing your best or trying hard. Ryan and Sparano better have a strategy and game plan to win. This offense should not, ever, run exotic plays. Go with what works. If Sanchez has a play in practice that him and a receiver have great continuity in, run that play and run it a lot. High tempo, fast urgency as soon as the tackle is made, right back to the line of scrimmage. We should have a base set of plays that Sanchez can make at the line. I have to say there are so many fair weather fans around here.. we haven't even played one game yet. Please, there have been much darker days then now. Step away from the ledge.
