He's absolutely launching punts right now. He's bound to be cut since the Raiders have Lechler. Once he's cut he might be worth a look. I think we'd all agree we have needed a punter for years.

He's got some nice hang time and has a strong leg from what I've seen so far.

The guy is booming punts and looks athletic as hell so could be dangerous on a fake.

EDIT: After 2 booming punts he pins them at the 1 but the coverage team screwed it up.

He has a monster leg. He also just put one inside the 5 ... should have been downed at the 1 easily. Every team w/a marginal kicker is going to be looking at this guy.

They should offer a 7th for him before he's a FA.

    honestly not a bad idea..

let's see if he shanks one before the games over

btw this is the first time i've solely watched a game to see a punter...FWIW.

I would be fine with that. Even though I liked our 7th round picks I was hoping we would use 1 of them on either a kicker or punter. I just have conley so much he is so bad. Shanking multiple punts a year is just terrible especially when his best punts are 40 yards. He doesn't do anything well.

That would be a smart move. Locking up a good punter would be huge. Especially since I'm not seeing the Jets with a prolific offense. Defense + Field Position is the winning formula this season.

Did you guys see the fg attempt with the offsides on the defense? I wonder if he took off because he had the awareness that it was offsides and wanted to get a first down?

Pinning teams deep after a 3-and-out would stoke up the defense as well. Teams battling out of their own endzone gives a defense tons of options they don't have if the same team is almost in FG range when they get the ball back.

Guy looks legit. Three punts I've seen easily over 50 yards. One of them should have been downed inside the 2 but the special teams guy really fucked that up.

I'm all for it. This guy could make a much bigger difference to the team than most of the insane suggestions of the last few days: i.e. Lee Evans, Ocho, etc....

Yeah and the Jags spent a 3rd rounder on a punter who is worse than King. I am disappoint.

if you're a jags fan I could understand why.

btw, i didnt mean that in a sarcastic way...i meant i could understand being upset about spending a 3rd round pick on a punter

I live in Jax so if anything I support the team for the sake of the city. And yes I want the GM gone. Wanting that for a couple of years now.

Either way, he's better than Conley.

    Yes!

I just started a new thread on roster holes and brought up King there myself.
The Raiders may want to out him on the PS, but no way they tie up 2 roster spots on punters.

Offer a 7th for sure. Talk about hidden value for a team that is built on defense and ST!

Before anyone is placed on the practice squad they must be released. If he isn't claimed then he can go on the practice squad for the Raiders but he has to be exposed to the league first. If this guy is the goods then maybe they cut Lechler who makes 4MIL a year. The new regime in Oakland might be giving this a thought. Bottom line is this guy will be kicking in the NFL somewhere this year. It will be interesting to see for who.
