And you figured all this out from few plays Sanchez and Tebow played in the first game of the preseason? Wow. You are very perceptive.
I think there is no doubt that Tebow is much more of a natural leader. He has a presence that his teammates pick up on. He inspires the people he plays with. He showed it in college, and he showed it last year. He probably has that over most players in the league, not just Sanchez. I don't think that makes up for lack of talent. He actually doesn't lack in physical talent per se', he lacks in the ability to throw a football well consistantly, and all his other attributes are great, but in today's NFL, if you can't throw, you can't be a great QB.
seriously...just wait until the regular season....thank god this forum has a tebow section because its going to become unbearable.
Agreed...I know this is framed as a Sanchez thread but, really, it's a Tebow thread and could be moved there IMO. That being said, I'm no Tebow hater. At least not as long as he contributes to more Ws than Ls. That's what it's all about.
Tebow definitely has the confidence of a great leader. Too bad he lacks all the other necessary qualities. All that means is he's full of himself. He is a perfect example of the peter principle.
So easy to rile up Sanchez fans. LOL. I like Sanchez myself. I think he has the tools. But as clear as it is Sanchez is a better thrower, Tebow is the better leader. And if it was not apparent today, just go back and look the the history. IMO, Sanchez has not been a strong leader. There have been times over the years watching him when he gets down and pouts. He is immature at times. Granted, he is young so this can contribute. A lot of QBs take more time to mature emotionally than physically. In the end, I think Tebow will be good for Sanchez in the leadership department. The upside for Sanchez is a lot of leadership can be learned and unfortunately for Tebow, his natural ability (or inability) to be a strong and accurate thrower can't be. At least not nearly as much.
I think Tebow has shown all of the qualitites of a great leader. He inspires his teammates to reach beyond what they think they can accomplish, and he leads by example. To me last year in Denver was a terrific example. Statistically he was below average at QB, but when he took over, the team rallied around him, the D, which was getting shredded kept them in games, and Tebow played beyond his abilities at the biggest moments of games. I still don't think he's a reliable full time starting QB in the NFL, especially becasue he will never be able to run a traditional offense or be accurate enough throwing the ball. But to say the only leadership quality he possesses is that he is full of himself is just hating and not looking at his past accomplishments going back to college.
Tebow is Bobby Douglass revisited. Douglass was also a running QB with accuracy issues on a team that was confused offensively speaking, trying to get back to a dominant style on offense that had been out of vogue for 30 years in 1971. Tebow leads better than Douglass did but his skills are basically the same adjusted for era.
This Tebow in 2011 mania has been so blown out of proportion it is incredible. The series of events in some of the 7 games the Broncos won with Tebow at QB was incredible and nothing to do with Tebow. The ineptitude of the opposing teams, the Broncos defense, and Prater had more to do with those 7 wins than Tebow. All I saw on Friday night was a QB in Tebow who is built like a tight end and who can run and break tackles. As for his passing - he still sucks. The interception was horrible. Put Tebow in for a wildcat option 4-5 plays a game to run his college offense and that's it. Otherwise, can we just let Sanchez play and run a true NFL offense with a new OC and see how the season goes???
Joe McKnight: "What I like about Tim is when he comes in the huddle he has his own little "swag" and really gets everybody on board".
I think I pointed out that he's not a great QB and that he wasn't great during those 7 games. You either didn't read the post or have comprehension issues. I also never said that he should play over Sanchez. My point is that Bronco team was shit before he took over at QB. They bought into what he was selling and played at a higher level for him. I never said he played great, in fact, I said he was below average alot. They had faith if they could keep a game close, he'd find a way to win it.
You could say the same thing about Sanchez's comeback streak in 2010, yet no Jets fan wanted to hear that argument back then. When you say that the Broncos' defense and Prater had more to do with the wins than Tebow, you are not refuting the argument about his superior leadership. Good leadership in the NFL is, by definition, making the players around you play better. I don't think Tebow is a good QB, or ever will be, but I'll give him credit for being one of the best leaders in the league.
You're kidding, right ??? Lacks the other necessary qualities ? What rock have you been living under ?
