http://www.newyorkjets.com/photos-a...tland-86/abe1f77e-4103-4650-83ef-10f7d1b2e087 So the other day I saw video of Sal Palantonio gushing about how much better Sanchez looks, and now Jaws is doing the same. I know some people like to just look at the practice fantasy football numbers and draw conclusions from there but I prefer hearing guys who actually watch the QB's and analyze there performance. It sounds like we could be in for a nice Surprise from Sanchez. It would sure make a huge impact if he came out and played like a top 15 QB this year.
I don't think I ever heard ESPN gush about Sanchez. Interesting that Jaws said Sanchez has "system familiarity" and this is what his first practice week in the system technically? That was surprising to hear.
Psh Fuck Jaws, all he did was run his mouth about how bad Sanchez was and how bad he may be going forward. He saw nothing good in him now all of a sudden he sees some practices and has a change of heart? Whatever. In all seriousness, the kid needs time to mature, were starting to see him grow and become the QB we think he can be, and I think after what happened last season, he had to of put things in perspective about how this game is and what you need to do to get the best out of your teammates. I think were slowly starting to see this maturation come to life -before our very eyes. It won't happen overnight, but I think the majority of NFL fans will be very surprised by Sanchez's play. I for one won't be. Now were at the point where we can develop continuity at the WR position, and have an OC that preaches execution, and tries to get the most of out his players on the field.
Doesn't the fact that he was really down on him before give his positive comments more credence? It would be like if I started gushing about how good Tebow looks at QB.
I don't see it that way - I see it more as Damage Control. I would think that if Tebow becomes this amazing QB, we would all go crazy insane and think how he got to that point.
Sanchez will come close to cracking top 10 this year. The 10 point Schottenheimer sandbag rule says so.
I think Jaws got his logos confused. He thought he was at Eagles camp. He never talks positive about the Jets. Maybe Eric Allen drugged him up a little or got him drunk before that interview.
I'll believe Sanchez has significantly improved when I see it for myself. I can't shake the feeling I had at the end of last season that he was killing our team (among others) until then.
While I personally believe that Sanchez continues to make significant strides, I dont know how good of a season I expect him to have. Between our receiving corp being eh, offensive line, and then Tebow taking redzone snaps from him it could lead to him having some ugly numbers. I think this could be a year where Sanchezs numbers dont do him justice
Sanchez is the new Kyle Orton -- get ready for heaps of praise on him. Tebow has a way of making people want to praise the other guy.
What the fuck is this shit? Orton alienated himself from the fans. Why does this never get brought up. Orton's situation has nothing to do with Sanchez
Maybe you're right - but we now have a few people talking up Sanchez this preseason. I'm looking forward to seeing him in action.
Its laughable that people compare the Orton situation to Sanchez's. Sanchez has won his whole life, Ortons been a losing QB forever. Ima laugh when the Jets start of strong and Tebow never gets a chance.
True but you know as well as I do that all players get judged to a certain extent on their numbers. And qbs/wrs/hbs probably more than any others. Plus the red zone is where Sanchez is most dangerous due to his mobility / roll outs / playaction being his greatest strengths, so naturally id presume all of his numbers would be better in the redzone vs elsewhere. I agree that at the end of the day our Ws vs Ls is all that matters, but at the same time it would be nice to see Sanchez get the fucking respect he deserves
The Jets super secret plan has worked. Tebow looks so bad that it's making Sanchez look good by comparison.
So long as he's playing well, moving the chains and cutting down on the turnovers he will help the team win. That's all I care about as a Jets fan. Would I be happy if Sanchez threw for 5000 yards and 40 TD's? Hell yea, but I'd be just as happy with 3000 20TD/10INT if we're winning the same amount of games. Tebow isn't taking the redzone away from Sanchez, people really need to stop thinking that. Goal line is NOT red zone.
And his praise for Sanchez really wasnt that great. I feel like he surely says positive shit whenever he does an interview for any specific team (notice how he didnt say a single bad thing about our team?) Hell just a few weeks ago when he ranked the top 30 qbs in the league he had Tebow as #30 (behind the terrible Gabbert, and Ponder) Sanchez as #23 (below Palmer, Dalton, Hasselbeck, Freeman, Alex Smith) So who knows. If he woulda said something along the lines of "wow he completely changed my opinion of him" I might make more out of his words.
