    From a famed philospopher:

"To learn my teachings, I must first teach you how to learn."

"When you doubt your power you give power to your doubts."

"We are number one. All others are number two, or lower."

"Belichik will have many weapons. To defeat him we will need more than forks and flatulence."

So... the title of this thread. Did Tony Sparano actually ejaculate this philosophy?

whatever.. I think this is a good thing and more important than you may think. It seems that he has made the players realize what really went wrong last year and understand the most important areas for improvement. I'm sure he's been studying the tapes alot. It seems there was way too much miscommunication and confusion too often last season.. hopefully we can adjust to the new system and get everyone on the same page.

Yeah, I'm still pretty lukewarm on this guy until he proves otherwise....... hopefully he was just over his head being HC.

A forward approach and no Schotty is an immediate upgrade.

That says nothing about how effective Sparano will actually be... but I still believe Sparano was the biggest upgrade we acquired this offseason.

Sparano is starting to remind me of Herm.

So, you say nothing about how effective Sparano will be. And then, despite that, you say he was teh biggest upgrade of the off season.

You realize that makes no sense whatsoever?

It makes plenty of sense. I see Schottenheimer as a bottom of the league coordinator. I believe Schottenheimer literally made the offense worse by being here as long as he was.

I also believe that Sparano simply needs to stick to Rex's philosophy and coach them team to good discipline to be an automatic and visible upgrade over Schotty.

That doesn't make Sparano a top offensive coach in the league. Middle of the pack at best. It makes him very effective for what the Jets need though. Anything better and the Jets have struck gold.

Well he's not a head coach here, which it seems a lot of people still need to realize. He was a good positional coach in Dallas and a bad head coach in Miami.

To me, none of that means anything about what he'll do as an offensive coordinator. It's a crap shoot from a fans point of view at this point. I don't see how anyone can say he's going to suck as an offensive coordinator because he sucked as a head coach or on the other hand say he's going to be good because he was a good offensive line/run game coordinator. I do think run game coordinator/offensive line coach is probably more in line with the coaching duties of an OC than a HC is.

I think Sparano probably has a place as an NFL coach in some capacity, whether it's as an offensive coordinator or not has yet to be determined. Some of the ideals we've heard him preaching sound positive for this team with Ryan at HC.

"Rex's philosophy"... what are you talking about?
Rex is a defensive coach, what part if Rex's defensive prowess Sparano has to tap to upgrade our offense? And when did Rex show even an iota of "good discipline" over the past 3 years?

Rex does have a philosophy for what he wants this team to do on offense. He has said it since the moment he got here. Just because he was a DC before coming here does not mean he does not have an all around plan for the team.

Do you believe defensive coordinators get to where they are by wearing blindfolds when it comes to what an offense does?

    You mean the ground-and-pound philosophy?
So let me get it straight... The OC has to tap into Rex's G&P vision to make offense work. xxedge72x makes it sound like Sparano is a brainless mouthpiece hired to be a conduit of Rex's vision. He just "needs to stick to Rex's philosophy".
