I'm not saying he's a Cam Newton or a Michael Vick, but do you thinks our quarterback is good at using his legs to extend plays or run it into the endzone if all else fails? Is Sanchez mobile, in your opinion?
I think that Mark is a mobile QB, but not a running QB in the mold of Vick or Newton. He has good balance and can throw on the move, but he is a passer, not a runner, imo. Can he bootleg at the 2? Of course, but that is more surprise than running skills.
He certainly has had games where looks very good scrambling. No he's not Vick, but he can move laterally, avoid sacks, even rush for good yardage... in some games, other games not so much.
Yes. More mobile than Brady and Manning. And certainly more elusive. He gets his Houdini moments on the field. I'd like him to step up his play action to Chad P's level - Chad was the master.
I would be curious of the actual stats but I seem to recall Sanchez being a very good roll out passer, which I couldn't understand why they didn't have him do more of. I wonder if Sparano will work that into the offense.
Yes Mark is a very mobile qb but coaches don't want him running. They are afraid he will get hurt so he does'nt run a whole lot. I actually think because the coaches don't want him to run he has thrown a few more interceptions that he would of if he was just being himself and taking off.
I would say so. He's very good scrambling and some of his best passing plays that I can remember have come with him rolling out and passing to Keller. He's avoided many sacks using his feet which is scary to think because of how many sacks he has taken.
Other people have pretty much said everything. I will say that I think he's mobile as in "throwing on the move" or even doing the odd rush himself (how many rushing TDs did he have again?), he does a good bootleg. That being said, we all know last year he was a bit guilty of staring down a receiver from time-to-time. I found when he did that he would kind of lock himself in the pocket and wouldn't move at all, not even move his head to look for pass rushers. As he wasn't moving or even looking around I thought he was less elusive on sacks then he could have been. He can be elusive in a play action scenario or a screen pass or something where he is in motion but when he locks in like that I think he's a sitting duck. Hopefully with better protection and doing less of the staring down the receivers we'll see a dramatic drop in sacks/fumbles from Sanchez.
Alright you made me laugh. +1 rep. I think Sanchez is definitely a scrambler and it's good that that's the case because 6'2" QB's that can't scramble are in real trouble in today's NFL. The only reason that Brees gets away with being a drop and set passer is that the Saints wisely have a huge area that he can set up in on any drop back. He sets behind the tackles at times and like 9 yards deep. That's pro-active scrambling in my book, Brees just does it before the pressure is on.
I would compare his mobility to Tony Romo. I think both can extend plays with their legs, throw well on the move and have similar athletic ability.
