Keen forward-thinking is the trait of a wise and successful GM.

If the investments could somehow be put aside or if the pay scales were equal for all 3 players, do you really think the Colts would have traded Manning (whereupon he would've become a backup) and the Jets would've traded Sanchez (whereupon he would've become a backup), each for a 4th Round Pick?

I'm thinking that things would have been much different in the past, and that the dynamics surrounding "developing" a QB are going to be much different in the future, given the new rookie wage scale.

In short, early round guys aren't going to be given the same kind of time to develop as they had in the past.

Again, smart GMs (i.e. those who have keen forward-thinking skills) know when to select QBs, and they know how to develop them.

Recently - that is, one who applied to the previous CBA - Aaron Rodgers would be a good example.

Rodgers wasn't affected by the new rookie wage scale IIRC. Anyways, he dropped to 24th pick in the draft, and his salary wasn't that high.

That said, you are absolutely right that "smart" GMs know how to select and develop QBs. Thing is, the NFL doesn't have all that many "smart" GMs :)

Smart front offices (Patriots) also drafted Tom Brady in the 6th round and would have kept him holding the clipboard if Bledsoe didn't get injured. GMs usually get it wrong on QB drafting, FYI. More often they are busts then HOFers. I can't support any logic which states the movement of a player by a front office is somehow the end-all-be-all judgement of a particular player.

Oh, I think I misinterpreted your post that I quoted, because I thought you were implying QBs that were selected during the the previous CBA (which is why I used Rodgers as an example).

The majority of current starting QBs were drafted in the First Round.

Who cares about your judgement as a wanna be GM? I gave facts relating to Tebow's performance on the field in a favorable direct comparison to a future Hall of Famer. You can dispute none of it and your only ammo is to attempt to sidetrack the argument with baloney talk.

Here is why your current efforts are unnecessary: Your avatar claims that you don't want to hear about Tebow, yet you waste your precious life on a Tebowmania forum, pretty sad individual you seem to be.

During June/July, the doldrums of the Offseason, it's tough to find satisfying forms of entertainment on here. But this year, you lunatics are making the time fly.

Training Camp is only a couple days away. Can't wait to see Tebow develop his Punt Protection skills!

I did a rough run-through and counted 17, which would be a majority.

A majority of starting QBs are not elite, better yet, not hall of famers. What's your point if these starting QBs are not great at their position?

I'll answer... there is no point.

Like someone needed an explanation why Manning is better than Tebow.

But to answer the OP, I was just listening to First Take talking about Tebow working with quarterback guru Tom House who has worked with Brady, Brees, etc.

He talked about addressing Tebow's mechanics, and them asking players to perform roughly 1000 repetitions of a perfect motion in order to re-wire their mechanics. He said Tebow finished 1000 in 2 days.

House went on to mention that Tebow is the first athlete he ever met where his intangibles are higher than his tangibles, and said by the end of the week there was not a target Tebow could not hit. He finished it off with don't bet against Tebow.

So Tim is also working on his football. Why criticize the guy for wanting to also kick some ass, MMA-style, while throwing those perfect spirals?

    I said starters.

The point is, teams draft a QB in Round 1 to be the their franchise QB. They don't draft QBs in the First Round and then trade them for a 4th Round Pick two years later, unless of course, that QB has major flaws and the organization owns up to their mistake.

We heard that stuff for 3 years now. Tim has really improved ... blah blah blah and what happens when the poo hits the fan? Right back to the same old Timmy. And 1000 passes? hahahaha. The kid has thrown what... 65k (and that only if he threw around 5k per year) + passes in his life and you expect 1000 passes to somehow fix his problems? How many thousands and thousands of hours has Tebow put in using the very motion he struggles with and 48 hours is somehow supposed to fix that?

    Not Likely!

Actually I have personally watched Tebow enough to know he doesn't have any issues throwing the football but my response to the OP was to his criticism that Tebow isn't working on his football in the off season when in fact he is.

Personally I feel he's one of the better deep ball throwers in the league, and if people would simply use common sense rather than blinders, you could easily deduct anyone that can throw the football that accurately deep, doesn't have any issues throwing the football accurately short.

He's short passing "deficiencies" came as a result of inexperience reading defenses, timing, and him insisting on throwing the ball out of bounds.

These aren't issues as much as they are a result of being inexperienced and wanting to win with the team he had around him. Footwork, reading defenses and timing is a matter of learning. Something any QB can do and get better at, and most usually do throughout their careers. Tebow won't be any different.

The other half of the story is he uses his legs for those dink and dunk passes that pad other QB's stats to get their numbers to 60%.
