Gotta give the edge to Flacco. He challenges the defense vertically a great deal better than Sanchez does at this time. And he was doing so even when an aging Mason and Mark Clayton were his top targets.
Tomlinson has been a tremendous reciever for us out of the backfield the last two season as junc said...there are no excuses there. But Ray Rice regular season is one of the best in the league, if not the best at recieving out of the backfield.
I wouldnt go that far i can name a few that are worse...and as far as torre smith goes he was a vertical threat this past year, but flacco played without him the years before.
Yeah I know, and Flacco really does throw a nice deep ball. I guess having one of the biggest arms in the league helps out.
my god You guys are such homers. I like Sanchez but I'd take Flacco in NY all day any day. He's a boring oof but he would be perfect in NY. Big as hell and tough to bring down, a powerful arm that would cut through Meadowlands air, I'd take him. He would be excellent in the "desired" ground-and-pound system too cause he can flick em deep off play action. He's not elite and perhaps never will be but neither is Mark Sanchez.

As recently as leading up to the last game Flacco played (the Raven loss in NE), his own team mate Ed Reed was calling him out on his subpar performances when it came to crunch time. And while he (finally) picked it up last January, let the record show that he still lost. That other time when the Ravens won was more about a running attack NE couldn't stop, the Raven defense forcing NE to keep shooting themselves in the foot in a game that got out of hand, something like 28-zip(?) before NE knew what hit 'em. Dude, Sanchez crapped the bed last year down the stretch and cost the Jets a playoff position. Who gives a crap what happened 2 years ago in a divisional playoff game. I know that game was your Super Bowl, so congrats taking advantage of the situation and going 0-4 in AFC Championship games.
I wish this was even close. Arm Strength: Flacco Accuracy: Flacco Track Record: Flacco People will want to give Sanchez the last one, but Flacco out-dueled Brady in the AFC Championship only to have Lee Evans drop the game winning TD that a guy like Santonio Holmes would have easily caught. Put the Ravens in the Super Bowl against the Giants and I think they definitely could have won -- they match up very well against what the Giants do on both sides of the ball. Flacco, not the defense, kept them in the AFC Championship game. Sanchez never has done that for the Jets. Flacco is a far superior talent. The Ravens won't let him go. We're stuck with Sanchez for now and hopefully he improves with Santonio, Hill, Schilens, Keller, and Kerley. If we miss the playoffs, I believe we'll be engineering a RGIII type deal to move up for the #1 or #2 QB in the draft (Barkley/Bray/Wilson/Thomas). If the Rams, Colts, Browns, etc. have the top pick we would be a great trade partner, likely giving up our draft plus Cromartie and/or Holmes.
Disagree, it will always be close until one of them becomes consistently good. You can get JAX or NYJ Flacco or NE or Pitt Flacco. You never know. Same thing from Sanchez. Also, track record to Flacco seems strange? The Ravens had a better team and he has put up some bad games in playoff wins. KC and NE I believe. Sanchez has never played that bad and won games let alone playoff games. Sanchez's worst performances were probably 45-3, MIA this year, Buf in 09, ATL in 09, BAL in 11 and we didn't win any of those.
I dont think its a matter of being a homer...i wouldnt be mad if we had Flacco either i just think sanchez has accomplished more in less time and sometimes with less talent...the ravens have been stacked the last 2 years and he still cant get the job done, on Sanchez's rookie season he had a #1 defense #1 run and took us to the afc championship...Flacco in his fourth year has the same things behind him and he can only match Sanchez as a rookie. Last year yes he played better due to the difference in turn overs, but match the numbers up otherwise...is it that big of a difference? then compair the play of the O lines...u tell me what u think... like so many on this board, you use such a small sampling to define sanchez. history has not been written in stone as to what sanchez will be defined by because the sampling is too small, there is still more football games to be played. but as things lean right now, overall performance does not lean sanchez way. bottom third qb play speaks volumes about where sanchez is headed and his present standings. sanchez overall performance say's he'll be out of the league in a couple years.
did anyone think brady would be as great as he has turned out to be. has there been any other 6th rd qb's drafted since brady to be as good or even anywhere near as good. just because eli did it, so it is expected that sanchez will is your arguement. fact is, history says "not"!
