I was. Why sign a guy past his prime when you have a rebuilding team?

The trade market has not developed yet. Capps is going right back on the DL and F-Rod is now closing in Milwaukee. Broxton is available.

I have been saying this for a couple weeks now....the Mets should trade Dickey. They could get a ton for him, it would be a great trade.

A 37-year old knuckleballer is a tough sell if you expect a great package in return. I know Dickey could pitch another 7 years, but it is tough to trust knuckleball pitchers.

What the Mets should do tomorrow is trade turd relievers (basically every reliever on the team) for other teams' turd relievers. Shit-for-shit trades. Maybe something clicks.

At the moment the FO seem to operating in full ostrich mode....this bullpen has been shit since April.....we have to do something as Rauch / Beato / Byrdak / Parnell etc etc are not cutting it in fact they are ruining this team

We have to put some package together that gets a good set up guy and hope Francisco can pull his ass in line.

If that means using a Turner or Duda plus RP/Prospects to get a Huston Street etc then we have to do it

Wright two homers already. Gio Gonzalez only records 10 outs.

Yes. I get that the Mets are strapped...but it's not like middle relief is a budget breaker.

At least the bleeding was temporarily stopped.

6 game home stand up next... Take 4 or 5 out of 6 here and we are right back in business.

It all starts with Johan tomorrow.

Nah, I think they're in full youth movement mode. I don't see them trading any prospects for any relievers. I'd be stunned if they got anybody approaching respectable for their bullpen, although I wouldn't be surprised if they just brought in a few new arms just to shake things up.

This team certainly looked better when the starting pitchers were throwing into the eighth...

Because of the fact that Dickey is under contract next season for a super low amount. I think we would be able to get a top prospect from a team.

You don't want Dickey in the rotation next year?

If we can get a top prospect for him, I'd deal him. He won't be 13-1 next season.

He can be good in 2013 just like he's been good since 2010.

Without Dickey on the team in 2013, maybe both Harvey and Wheeler will be in the rotation out of spring training. Santana and Niese would have spots. Maybe Pelfrey and/or Gee would be back.

If a guy was to be traded, I'd rather it be Santana because of injury concerns.

Santana is untradeable with the amount he is due. The whole problem with trading Dickey is the problem you alluded to above. We would only have 2 clear starters going into next season.

I think it makes more sense to keep him than trade him for players who may or may not pan out.

He is also in the Cy Young race. If this season goes south soon, at least there would still be some games worth watching.

Sandy Alderson can't pull the plug on this season unless the Mets go 2-9 or worse the next 11 games and on July 31, Alderson says, "Okay, we're fucked."
