Flacco was terrible in the '09 & '10 postseasons, sanchez was really good. Bal's D was better than ours in postseason and we didn't have a ray Rice.
Sorry, but Flacco has been much better than Sanchez throughout his NFL career. Posters who are saying that the two QBs are "close" or "about the same" haven't actually looked at their records. The only year that they were close statistically was 2011, but Flacco was still better stat-wise. Flacco started out much better as a rookie than Sanchez, and has continued to be better. Sanchez's best year wasn't even as good as Flacco's worst year. Flacco has never had a season QBR below 80.0. Sanchez has never had a season QBR above 80.0. Flacco has had 3 seasons with a completion % of 60.0% or more while Sanchez has never had a season completion % of 60.0%. Flacco has thrown for 3600+ yards the last three seasons; Sanchez has never thrown for 3500 yards in a season. Flacco has never thrown more than 12 INTs in a season while Sanchez has never thrown fewer than 13. Flacco (2008): 428 atts, 60.0%, 14 TDs, 12 INTs, 2971 yds, 6.9 YPA, 80.3 QBR Flacco (2009): 509 atts, 63.1%, 21 TDs, 12 INTs, 3613 yds, 7.2 YPA, 88.9 QBR Flacco (2010): 489 atts, 62.6%, 25 TDs, 10 INTs, 3622 yds, 7.4 YPA, 93.6 QBR Flacco (2011): 542 atts, 57.6%, 20 TDs, 12 INTs, 3610 yds, 6.7 YPA, 80.9 QBR Flacco avgs: 492 atts, 60.8%, 20 TDs, 11.5 INTs, 3454 yds, 7.1 YPA, 85.9 QBR Sanchez (2009): 364 atts, 53.8%, 12 TDs, 20 INTs, 2444 yds, 6.7 YPA, 63.0 QBR Sanchez (2010): 507 atts, 54.8%, 17 TDs, 13 INTs, 3291 yds, 6.5 YPA, 75.3 QBR Sanchez (2011): 543 atts, 56.7%, 26 TDs, 18 INTs, 3474 yds, 6.4 YPA, 78.2 QBR Sanchez avgs: 471 atts, 55.1%, 18.3 TDs, 17 INTs, 3070 yds, 6.5 YPA, 72.2 QBR I did NOT bring up wins/losses/playoff appearances and/or playoff wins etc because those are truly team stats NOT QB stats, and I'm looking at QBs. Again, Flacco would likely come out the better here, too, as he's played well enough to help his team get to the playoffs every single year while Sanchez seriously faltered late last season and the Jets missed the playoffs. In their first two years, both QBs had the benefit of good OLs and good running games. Neither QB has had the benefit of having top notch targets, but Baltimore went out and acquired some better receivers for Flacco in 2011 while maintaining the quality of its OL and running game. The Jets, however, did NOT give the same support to Sanchez in 2011, and it doesn't look like that situation is going to change in 2012 as the Jets return the same OL and runners while the receivers have changed but not necessarily for the better this season.
I was collecting my stats when you guys posted, but I think we're pretty much saying the same thing: Flacco has been the far better QB so far.
Right but with 11-12-13 win seasons comes home playoff games and a better chance to win those AFC championships without wearing out your D on road wild card and divisional games. You guys like to say the D is why you lost the AFCCG's to the Colts/Steelers. You can't pretend that doesn't matter. Not saying you are.
PatsFanTX - the only pats troll that is big enough of a douche to troll not one, but TWO, jets boards.
The thread topic is about Sanchez versus Flacco. All I did was provide some stats for the discussion. How is that "trolling"?
Bal has only had 1 home playoff game w/ Flacco and they didn't reach the SB. I haven't voted but I'd rather have Sanchez too, I want a guy who can perform in january. Remember, Sanchez is still developing.
I'm wrong, i made a mistake! I change my mind, i want sanchez. I'm a punk ass son of a 2 dollar whore for choosing flacco, my bad!
I was responding to your post regarding what would have happened if Flacco was on the Jets. The 11/12/13 wins you said he would have would lead to more home playoff games. Bringing up Baltimore only having 1 home playoff game and them not reaching the SB is meaningless if you are attributing the Jets playoff failures to defensive collapses. What Baltimore's D did or didn't do in the playoffs is not part of the discussion.
Haha because people are ridiculous and think he should start over Sanchez. Just as ridiculous as people thinking Flacco is somehow much better than Sanchez.
I voted Tebow (you can see from the start of this thread) because... well. Just for the heck of it. Do I think Tebow is better than either of the two? HELL NO. That said, I will reiterate my point: from overall team performance standpoint, swapping Sanchez with Flacco will produce minimal, if at all, difference in seasonal performance.
Joe Flacco is statistically superior to Mark Sanchez in every category available to measure NFL QB's. At this point in their careers, Flacco is much better than Sanchez.
Last year, Sanchez had a very similar comp% as Flacco, but threw 6 more touchdowns. Sanchez also threw 6 more picks. Similar yardage, YPA, QBR, Flacco is marginally ahead. Since Sanchez was only in his 3rd year, and was hurt for the late stretch of the season, I'll stick with him. Flacco regressed in year 4 when they leaned on him more. Sanchez has improved every year in almost all categories. He will get even better and will probably put this conversation to bed halfway through the season. Sanchez has a higher ceiling, IMO.
Flacco is just the flavor of the month right now, a year ago everyone was saying Sanchez passed Flacco, they both have 2 AFC Championship appearances. Sanchez has been in the league 1 less year. Its all pretty even in my eyes.
Flacco had to deal with a substantial change in his receivers last year. He still had a better Qb rating, and did not shit the bed down the stretch when his team was heading to the playoffs. No comparison. i understand the homers here vote for Sanchez, but outside of the Jet fanbase no one else would pick Sanchez in this poll.
