Did you catch the Playoffs? Ask the NFL#1 rated pass defense Pittsburgh Steelers if he showed he can make passes from the pocket.
But he hasn't. He has shown that he he is a very inaccurate passer from the pocket and holds the ball to long. He has shown he can throw a pretty deep ball. making a throw here or there does not show he throw from the pocket. Vick could not throw from the pocket either until he cam back from prison. Cunningham did become a good pocket passer until went to the Vikings. All is not lost he just has a huge up hill battle.
Rex Ryan... "If you have a guy back there who can throw the football it makes it tough. “Look at [Tebow's] playoff game against Pittsburgh: [The Steelers] went cover-zero [on the first play of overtime], and everyone’s ‘man’ across the board. Fine. Drop back, boom and pump it in there. You’ve got ‘man’ coverage, so if you miss a tackle then it goes for a touchdown — and that’s exactly what happened." "...He can throw the football. He can throw on the perimeter. And, trust me, I don’t think DBs want to tackle him... he’s a guy I think will be ascending as a passer.”
Yep, and when that confidence was no longer justified, he cut Schotty lose. We'll see if his confidence in Tebow is justified or not.
Nice job of moving the goalposts. First you say "All these Qbs at least demonstrated they can make the throws from the pocket Tebow has not demonstrated that at all." Now, you basically want to compare him to veteran QBs with years in the league. Here's the simple fact that neither you nor anyone else can escape, which is, that at times, Tebow has shown that he can throw very well from the pocket. The question is whether he can develop more consistency in doing so.
Wow, where did you run into the players from the Steelers? Where you at a sportsbar getting fatter watching Tebow continue on in the playoffs?
Right those are the types of packages they'll run with him. The question is with a full offseason were they able to figure him out?
[QUOTEHere's the simple fact that neither you nor anyone else can escape, which is, that at times, Tebow has shown that he can throw very well from the pocket. This proves Tebow has not proven he can throw from the pocket.
You can either throw from the pocket or you can't. Tebow has completed passes from the pocket, therefore he can throw from the pocket. His consistency is what you are referring to, and even Tebow supporters say the same thing. He needs to be more consistent. But your logic is false. You either can or can't throw from the pocket. Whether you do it well is another story.
Whatever way you want to spin it. He can throw so well from the pocket they had to change the entire offense for him.
I am sure it was all because Tebow sucked and had nothing to do with the 4-14 record the offense had piled up with Tebow on the bench. Right?
They changed the offense to Tebows strength which is not throwing from the pocket. Tebow at this point in his career can't read defenses has trouble under center and has a very slow release. These are not attributes of a pocket passer.
As to the bolded part -- I love the way they always seem to hedge their bets, laying the groundwork for an excuse if the kid pwns.
