Yeah..despite it being 40 years ago, at least we've been champions once in our lifetime. But feel free to bask in all your appearances.

Yes, out of all the NY teams, the Jets are the ones "talk" the back seat, right? Gotchaaa.

You take the backseat to the United States on occasion.

You take an even larger backseat to the Giants. Why should we be compared to the team that plays in the same stadium while you are compared to nobody. At least we have made the playoffs this millennium.

    BuffaloStampede, if I may.....

While ribbing contests are fun and can go on for what seems a lifetime, ultimately, the only vindication for the Bills franchise in the minds of many NFL fans is to win. Now this season is shaping up nicely, but until the Bills actually produce on the field, they deserve the criticism. Interestingly enough, what opposing fans seem to forget is how quick it can change from good to bad, or from bad to good. Let them dog all they want. It'll make it that much sweeter when the Bills turn it around this year.

If you want to talk about comparing the Bills and Jets history, it boils down to this:

    Bills regular season record: 364-416-8
    Jets regular season record: 359-421-8

    Bills post-season record: 14-15
    Jets post-season record: 12-13

This is from 1960-present...both teams' entire history. As you can see, the Bills have won more regular season games AND more playoff games...but it's pretty damn close...even after the Bills have sucked rotten feces for the past 12 years, giving the Jets a chance to catch up. That hasn't happened yet, though, talking about pure wins.

Yeah, I know, the Jets one a Super Bowl FORTY-FOUR YEARS AGO! Big whup, as they say. That was never a franchise team, either, if you catch my meaning. Guess what? The Bills have TWO championships, which they won back-to-back. They were AFL Championships...in a league where the Jets were also involved. Anyone still "bragging" about a Super Bowl win 44 years ago should also recognize these two championships, which happened only a few years before the merger...and a few years before the Jets Super Bowl win.

In fact, the Bills have played in SEVEN ultimate title games, winning two. The Jets have appeared in ONE, winning one. If I have to hear about Joe Namath's "bold" guarantee of winning that game to a heckler in the crowd, I'll throw up into my hat. He never even won a single playoff game apart from 1968, and he only APPEARED in one. He personally didn't even do much in that Super Bowl anyway...yet I digress.

The last Super Bowl guarantee didn't quite work out, did it? Gotta make the playoffs first, I think.

Neither team has THAT much to brag about...I guess that's my point. The Jets don't really have a better history than the Bills, for sure. Jets fans really want to hang their hat on being in back-to-back Championship games recently, but that's not advisable because that's history too. I really don't see the Jets as being noticably better than the Bills TODAY. The Bills have built a rather nasty defense, and the offense is capable of moving the ball and scoring points. Special Teams is not a weakness.

New England will still likely win the division anyway if Brady stays healthy. IMO, the Jets and Bills will both be vying for a Wildcard spot. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the Bills end up with a better record than the Jets this year, regardless of Wildcard berths.

If you think Namath did not do much in Super Bowl 3, then you did not watch it or do any research.

The Jets won that game on defense...also running the ball.

They won the turnover battle by FOUR, including TWO interceptions in their own endzone. That is why they won...not really Namath, who is perhaps the most overrated QB of all-time IMO, or close to it. Not to talk smack exactly, but that's what I think. TONS of people agree.

The only scored 16 points...the Colts missed a short fieldgoal too...and another longer one. The bounces went the Jets' way...period. The Jets won the game fair-and-square, but they got lucky too.

Why don't you just educate me then and tell me how Namath was instrumental in that win. He wasn't, and the whole "guarantee" thing is blown so far out of proportion that it's laughable. Namath didn't even attempt a single pass in the fourth quarter. The Colts gained 11 yards on offense in the third. Namath did not score a TD.

    Buffalo isn't moving

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Progress is being made in negotiations to extend the Buffalo Bills lease at Ralph Wilson Stadium and the $200 million price tag for renovations that comes with it, leaving county officials hopeful an agreement in principle could be reached by the end of next month.

The lease talks, combined with the Bills' bid to extensively renovate the 40-year-old stadium, are regarded as a key phase in securing the small-market franchise's long-term future in Buffalo.

"I feel there's agreement on some basic principles, and as a result I feel that we're headed in the right direction," Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz said by phone on Friday. "It is my goal as well as the Bills' organization to have the general terms hammered out by the start of training camp."

The first step would be reaching what Poloncarz called a "memorandum of understanding," which would encompass the framework of the agreement by the time the Bills open training camp on July 26.

The next step would be just as comprehensive and involve lawyers preparing an actual lease to be signed before the Bills' current deal expires in July 2013.

Poloncarz confirmed the renovation price tag at being between $200 million and $220 million and would take about three years to complete, with the work done during the NFL offseason.

Up for discussion is how much of the team's wish-list of needs will be included and how to divide the costs between the county, state as well as the Bills.

With Erie County having limited resources, Poloncarz also expects New York State to provide a commitment, since the team is estimated to generate between $15 million and $20 million in state taxes.

Though Bills owner Ralph Wilson has maintained he has no intention of selling or relocating the team during his lifetime, the 93-year-old Detroit-based businessman isn't getting any younger. And concerns continue to be raised as to what might happen to the franchise upon his death, because Wilson has not revealed a succession plan beyond having his heirs sell the team.
