So the media is saying Holmes left OTAs early? Tanne better be on the phone with Braylon Edwards ASAP or this WR corp is gonna be a big mess by seasons start.

    1) Do you seriously believe only one person on the team believed he was a cancer last year?

    2) There are all sorts of reasons a player wouldn't want his name attached to that quote, it doesn't take away from the legitimacy of it

Considering the talent around him, I think it's pretty harsh to judge Holmes entirely based on his production. He isn't in an offense that can put up a lot of passing numbers, so his numbers are obviously going to be lower.

Do you honestly believe there are 20 WRs in the league that are unquestionably better than him?

On number 2. I take the anonymous quotes as not the view of the team or even a majority of the team because of the Sanchez is lazy comments. That was so inaccurate according to reports before the comments and reports following it. It makes me at least wonder if the comments really represented the team well or it was just a disgruntled player.

We also don't know the context of that comment. There is no clarifying an anonymous statement. Was the question, "what do think of Santonio's Holmes actions today?" and the answer was "This game he was a real cancer to this team" vs "He has been a cancer for all 16 games this year". Or the question could have been "what went wrong down the stretch?" and the answer being "santonio holmes is a cancer to this team". Some answers in my view are clearly worse than others, but we don't know the context of the question or answer and the commenter never had a chance to clarify. Add that in to the inaccurate statement that Sancehz is lazy, I don't really think much of the comments. I look at them as the view of one disgruntled player, not the view of the team.

You're a f'n moron, ya know that? You do realize he had one of the worst QBs in the league throwing to him last year, right?

But you're a good Jets fan to say Sanchez was one of the worst QBs in the league.

In the case of Mark Sanchez, I too am inclined to believe that quote doesn't represent the majority of the team's opinions. But, that's because, as you said, there have been numerous reports of Sanchez' excellent work ethic. However, when it comes to Holmes, who had even before this incident had a suspect reputation, I think it makes more sense to believe that there is a decent chunk of the locker room (although perhaps not the majority) that thinks he's a cancer.

In what context is that not very damning?

Don't get me wrong it's very bad but if the player brought it up out of the blue without a loaded question it's much worse. Like I said its one player and I feel like its just a disgruntled player that isn't there anymorethan the feeling of them.
Another reason I might seem not concerned is the glowing reports tone got when the jets were winning. We win and there's no problem. I'm not saying I am right I am just tellin you why it may seem I am not concerned at all.

Calvin, Andre, Fitz, boldin, vincent, bowe, desean, roddy, Marshall, steve smith, and the cowboys young guy that I am blankin on. Who else would you put? Remember skill doesn't 100% correlate to stats.

Yeah, to me, being a good teammate when things are going well isn't good enough. Sometimes in the NFL, things are gonna go bad. At that point, you need your leaders and best players to rally the rest of the team to keep fighting and dig themselves out of whatever hole they got into. If you have a guy who is sulking and being a distraction, that undermines the whole effort.
Case in point, the last week of the season when Holmes was blowing off Sanchez and whining in the huddle.

Maybe Tebow can take his proven leadership skills and hug it out with Holmes. I mean, isn't one of Tebow's miracle powers making people love him and work together?

That's a fair point that I agree with. I think this event was blown out of proportion because the media can point to last year. The story can be taken two ways:
    1) A malcontent player (Based off end of last year) is already causing problems for his team. This story would get the most views/comemnts.
    2) A skilled players is frustrated with himslef since he couldn't compete at the level expected of him. This story gets less views/comments.

I don't blame the media for getting the first option but I personally don't think it is an accurate representation of what happened. I guess I'm too optimistic

Wes Welker, Jordy Nelson, Hakeem Nicks, Greg Jennings, Mike Wallace, Reggie Wayne, Marques Colston, Julio Jones, Miles Austin, Stevie Johnson, Brandon Loyd.

Those are all names that I'd say without a doubt, are better WRs than Santonio Holmes, without even bothering to dig through the stats. I'd trade him for anyone of those guys, or ones that you listed, in a heartbeat.

Holmes is a great #2 receiver. He shouldn't be a #1 and he's not top 20. He's probably top 40. Hopefully Hill turns into a beast.

I think that there are 5 ELITE WR in this league then they're are great. They're are no stats for under lying things GREAT WR do like blocks and Effort on plays where they won't get the ball. He just lacks the will which is why I hate him
