I guess all the fans that predicted doom and gloom can start eating crow on that at least

For all the pressure the outside media and fans are putting on New York Jets quarterbacks Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow, the pair appear to be fine so far on the practice field.

The latest case of good harmony is the New York Daily News report of Sanchez inviting Tebow to his "Jets West" passing camp. Tebow, in an effort to get better, accepted the invite.

The fact that Sanchez invited his backup, who is pushing him for the starting job, to his passing camp is a sign that Sanchez is inspired, not threatened.

There is always potential for a quarterback controversy in New York this year. Sanchez (25) and Tebow (24) are nearly the same age. Both are former first-round picks and have won playoff games early in their careers. If Sanchez doesn't perform early, the pressure to play Tebow will be immense.

But despite the various criticisms, one thing you cannot deny is the high character of Sanchez and Tebow. Both players are hard workers and have a big will to win. Making the Jets a playoff team again, first and foremost, is what's driving both quarterbacks to improve.

The Jets anticipated the "Tebow effect" would be good for Sanchez when they made the trade. So far the team is correct.

Nobody preditced doom and gloom chemistry wise. Everyone predicted doom and gloom on the field, which we can't judge yet and the media storm which has been a storm and been accurate.

There is no doubt that if Sanchez struggles the media circus will come out in full force and try to spark a QB controversy. With that said Sanchez and Tim are both grown men, high character guys, the two of them and Rex won't let things get out of hand and affect their play on the field

I wouldn't call someone who wipes a booger on one of his elders a "high character guy."

I had to open that link to prove I was right in thinking there was no way Cimini wrote it.

It might make sense if Tebow was actually pushing for the starting spot.

The head coaches have repeatedly stated he is the back-up and they brough him in for some special packages.

There are QB competitions going on right now but Sanchez/Tebow isn't one them.

Lord, I swear is there anything Tebow fans won't give Tebow credit for?

One thing that drives Tebow more than anything else is winning, he won't except anything less than striving to be number one at everything he does. Heck, the players from the Broncos last year commented on how he would come in first in just about every work out because he is so competitively wired to be number 1.

Even though there is plenty of room for improvement, he will keep working and pushing himself, so he can take full advantage of the opportunity when it presents it's self.

It can also be asked of the haters, is there anything that they are willing to give Tebow credit for?

I know some are getting the cart before the horse, anointing him as a future Super bowl winning QB, and Hall of Fame inductee. But all some of us are asking is, give him some credit where credit is due. And give him a chance to prove one way or the other if he is a starting QB in this league. Right now he is a backup, but like most backups at some point he will get another opportunity. He did pretty good with the one he had last year. Yes he looked bad at times, but at other times he looked more than capable of being an NFL caliber QB. Not many QBs would have been very successful in that situation. Contrary to the regurgitated media crap that he can't throw accurately, when he gets familiar with a system and is on the same page with his receivers, he puts up great numbers when it comes to accuracy. You don't throw as many passes as he did in college with SEC lineman breathing down your neck, and rank right at the top all time in completion percentage and QB ratings, if you can't throw accurately. Yes, Yes, I know this ain't the SEC, my point is he has the ability, and he has the competitive drive to get better. So just give him the fair shake that we would give any other young QB before anointing him the next Ryan Leaf of Qbs, and relegating him to full back and special teams.

I think you're missing the point. Why does the author of this article give credit to the "Tebow effect" for anything going on here? Tebow or whatever effect he might emanate had nothing to do with Jets West or him being invited. Sanchez invites all offensive skill players, he always has.

Tebow didn't do shit other than accept the invite like any good offensive team mate would, but because it's Tim fucking Tebow the author some how credits the "Tebow effect" for something here. This kind of shit gets annoying.

What do people expect Sanchez and Tebow to act like catty bitches? They're football players.

    non sequitur ...
I find it interesting that there is no media day this year. I wonder if that is because of the overwhelming media that Tebow draws of if there are plans to practice parts of the playbook with Tebow in a new position(s) that Sparano wants under wraps.

My point was that MANY said that Tebow coming over would detonate the team. It is so ridiculous for anyone to say that that was not what was said that i will not waste my time rubbing their face in it by finding old post.

Funny thing is that in some notable past cases, the relationship between the starter and the 2nd stringer was exactly that.

Also, I think you are misreading/misunderstanding what the article said. "Tebow effect" isn't getting any credit for Jet's West.

Here is the deal. When players get around the kid they find him the real deal. Selfless, works harder than anyone, can kid around and honest to a fault. He is a great team mate and will give it up for the team. What more can you want? Sanchez probably has seen it already and is going to treat him like a team mate instead of a rival. AND that is a Tebow affect.

Again, Sanchez invites all the offensive skill players to this every year. The tebow effect has nothing to do with it.

The basic gist of the thing is that many thought the Jets would implode with Tebow. That he would fracture the locker room. True, we have yet to see the Jet's under any actual fire, but many seemed to believe that the problems would start right from the beginning.

Afterall, from all reports, Sanchez had a hissy fit last season when Brunell took some snaps that one week.

The inclusion of "Jet's West" was to illustrate how this hasn't been the case. That far from a divisive rivalry that would blow things up, Sanchez and Tebow seem to be getting along just fine.

    This line comes to mind:

I'd gather that the author is also considering the positive statements about Sanchez that have come out of the Jets camp from OTAs, though those aren't mentioned.

As I think I mentioned here before (though in fairness, it might have been on another board), Tebow was brought in to be a kind of stalking/pacing horse for Sanchez. Someone to seriously push him without being too much of a threat of actually taking his job. THAT is the "Tebow effect" in my opinion. It will bring out the best in Sanchez.

Exactly, don't read too much into Tebow going as McElroy is also going to be there as well.

Why the fuck does Sanchez inviting Tebow to his Jets west camp mean that Tebow has inspired him? Do you not get how ridiculous that sounds? Every year he invites all the offensive skill guys, but since it's tebow being invited it has to mean tebow fucking inspired sanchez. It's the tebow effect!!!

You aren't reading it in context with the rest of the piece. It isn't saying that Tebow "inspired" Jet's West or that Tebow "inspired" Sanchez to invite him.

It clearly says that Sanchez "is inspired, not threatened."

Again, you are reading the piece waaaay too narrowly.

Just give up, guys. He's one of those that lives to cut down one of his team's players.

The whole article is just saying "They seem to be getting along." "There seems to be harmony."

It doesn't say any of the things that are causing him to bust a blood vessel.

No, I get it just fine. Sanchez is inspired, the evidence is there for everyone to see.
