Excellent point. Clearly, I am. Who else would sit around while at work posting in fruitless conversations within hundreds and hundreds of threads about their favorite football team? I will talk to my wife tonight about the other thing after we put the kid to bed.
For those that keep insinuating Tebow can not block, you have not been paying attention. I'm all for criticism where it is warranted, but if all you've got for me is...."but I don't like it!" I can't really do anything with that. Also I'm confused why some of you feel that we will no linger be doing trick plays. Essentially, the wildcat is a trick play and guess who is a big fan of that play? That's right...rex and tony. So let's see, we trade for a guy that is famous for running this play, his lineman and coach suggested he may be used as an hback and or punt protector, and you don't believe he is going to be used as a blocker?
I think the issue isnt so much criticism, as realism. if you made a thread saying "should/will the Jets run more trick plays?" thats something that could happen. However you made a thread saying "Maybe the Jets could run some formation that I invented and created, what do you think ?" So of course people are gonna knock it
I don't even get what you are saying. "It's not criticism it's realism?" I did in fact knowingly leave myself open to shit talkers and folks who are looking for a fight. However in no way do I view their assinine behavior as "realism." But anyway I don't care about all that. Some people took an interest in the topic and thats what I was personally looking for when I started the topic. As I said before, I've had this idea floating around for awhile and I actually wanted someone to tear it down because I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work. But some bills fans at work actually did a better job explaining problems with the play than the weak-minded bullies on this site.
To throw an occasional block on an option toss is different then staying in the backfield and picking up a blitzer or lead blocking for a runningback. These are acquired and practiced skills that some runningbacks and fullbacks who have made a career at the position but are not always even great at them. To think that Tebow could do so is one thing. To believe the advantage of the trickeration is worth that subpar blocking is something I just can't get along with. I think it would be more advanatagious to replace Tebow with Josh Baker or Cumberland.
I don't understand how you are going to run the option with Cumberland playing QB. Actually if you look at the play there isn't anything suggesting that either of the qbs have to block anyone. It's a play we already run, broncos ran it, miami ran it, the only difference is that we would have 2 qbs behind center who would move in opposite directions at the snap. Greene up the middle direct snap or Sanchez direct snap and rolling right or tebow running the option to the left-all possible from the same formation.
Wait what? Cumberland is a TE. I was advancing the point that the use of two TEs would likely lead to a more effective play than two QBs.
Which would be relevant how to the conversation about the feasibility of the formation being discussed in this thread? You suggesting putting an extra TE instead of using Tebow as a primary blocker is statement while interesting and probably true but has nothing to do with what I came up with or suggested. I'm thinking this is stupid to continue. I'll move on and save sports chatter with my co-workers who at least enjoy the topic and are capable of creative thinking at times.
First....I for one enjoyed your post and have been contemplating various Sanchez - Tebow alignments as well. Thought it was funny that Bills fans poked holes in this.....they must not have known the Bills just picked up Vince Young today so THEY can come up with their OWN dual-QB trick plays!!!
Because it makes more sense and would likely be better than the imaginary formation discussed in this thread
The Bills picked up Vince Young so that he could be... A backup QB. Which is exactly what he is. If you think they signed him to do what Tebow is here to do, then you sir are mistaken. It would also explain why you like the OPs idea so much
While his formation isn't exactly on-par with it, it kinda resembles the single-wing offense, which is obviously a real formation.
Yea actually I was giving them a bunch if shit saying "hey now you guys got your very own tebow!" But seriously, they could be dangerous with that team they've assembled.
Hes so good both the Titans and Eagles let him walk I know. And its not like Buffalo already has a wildcat specialist that theyre paying big bucks... Oh wait
Hey I made a fairly lengthy write up of my opinion on page 2 about the feasibility of a two QB set. Whatever.
I expect it will be rare for 2 QBs to be in the game at the same time. I'm not saying it won't happen, just that it will be rare. I believe it is more likely that the playbook will be simply expanded to include plays taking advantage of Tebow's skill sets and Sanchez will be coached up to run those plays, conversely Tebow will be coached up to run plays that take advantage of Sanchez's skill sets. Regardless, defenses will have to prepare for 2 QBs which makes their job harder.
