That would be a pretty impressive rookie year. No player in the NFL averaged 20 yards per catch last year.
I'd love for this kid to be a great deep threat and I think he has the ability and the work ethic to do so... But Mark Sanchez can't complete deep passes when he has no time to do so.. Holmes was right last season when he called out the O-Line for this.. Hill might be able to beat some guys but the lack of upgrade on the offensive line is going to lead to Sanchez being on his back and its not going to matter. Hopefully he makes a lot of strides this season and Tannenbaum gets smart next year and gets some O line help so whoever is taking the snaps has enough time to look for this kid deep.
i love the potential but can't say hes my favorite player this point. I'm also excited about Antonio Allen. I think he will be the biggest impact contributor out of the gate.
I knew dude was big, but he's more muscular than I thought....and with 4.30 speed to boot. Wanna see him in some games first before I declare him favorite though.
Even if he turns out to be a bust or anything (even though I don't think he will), I'll still like him, as he has a great attitude and apparently has a great work ethic. He'll be like The White Mamba, in terms of popularity. Bank on it.
Oh damn, I didn't even notice...I should probably know that, since I freelance write when I'm strapped on money :breakdance:
Malcolm Floyd was at 19.9 with 43 receptions. But yes your point is taken. Seems like that's pretty hard to do. Some other rookie #'s for comparison: Mike Wallace: 39-756-6 --> 19.4yds/rec DeSean Jackson: 62-912-2 --> 14.7yds/rec Hakeem Nicks: 47-790-6 --> 16.8yds/rec AJ Green: 65-1057-7 --> 16.3yds/rec So for Hill maybe I should say 40-640-6 (16yds/rec) is more realistic. PS. Nobody seemed to catch my glaring error that Megatron and Stafford were not rookies at the same time. It was Jon Kitna throwing heaves to Megatron in 2007.
I'm way too OCD to not point it out (inconvenient really given that thread titles can only be edited by Mods)...
Yeah, that stat line doesn't seem unreasonable to me, but it also on the optimistic side (that's what the off-season is all about right?) He could end up with half of that production and I don't think it would be a disappointing rookie year.
The OP is sort of what I've been thinking to myself, quietly, in a dark room with no one around. "There was once a dream that was an elite WR. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish... it was so fragile."
I think on draft day I've made it abundantly clear how much I don't like boom or bust picks... that said I really think this kid sounds like a class act and I'm going to root for him really hard. God knows how much we need a WR with a brain on his shoulders...
