I understand your wanting to defend .Cowboysfan, I just wouldn't have called others trolls to make the point. I happen to like his posts and I think he has been clear from the beginning that although he likes Tebow he doesn't think he should be the Jets starting quarterback. He feels the need to defend Tebow more than I do because of some of the comments that paint Tebow as a terrible quarterback.
I was unaware that only under certain circumstances should or could one join a forum or a discussion board.
Many Jets fans don't like Tebow for variety of reasons. They are worried that this board will be overrun by hoards of Christians or Tebowmaniaca who know little about football and who want to push their Christian agenda or their Tebow agenda. So far this has not been the case at all. Most of the Tebow fans on here are knowledgeable football fans who like Tebow for a variety of reasons. Some are Gator fans, some like me can't stand the group speak of the media and like to root for underdogs. Some like what he stands for as a person and others like his tough nosed play on the field. There are extreme arguments on both sides of the Tebow debate as in any debate, but overall on this site I don't think that's the case. As a life long Packers fan I am looking forward to watching Jets games on NFL ticket this year to see how the Jets will use Tebow this year and to see if Sanchez will grow a set of balls and be the leader the starting quarterback should be. By the way, I tnink it isperfectly fine to post on another teams message boards if you really like a player as long as you do it respectfully and honestly. If Aaron Rodgers became a Jet I would be remain a Packers fan, but I would probably follow his career as a Jet.
Maybe "smack" or some other label/concept would have been better than troll. My point is people seem able to take it in stride when a non-Jets fan sort of needles them, but if it's someone pro-Tebow, they go to Defcon 1 (I guess for some of the reasons you mention).
Every game has a million "What if's". What if he hadn't dropped that INT? What if Denver hadn't recovered that fumble? What if Denver had lost that fumble? What if they had converted a 4th and 1? I'm trying to boil it down to "Tebow Time" (fourth quarter and later) to evaluate how many "wins" Tebow "delivered" to his hapless teammates.
Last I checked, when QBs are given credit for "game winning drives" and "4th Q comebacks", leading the team down to field and scoring a FG counts. The only times that the QB doesn't get credit are things like punt/kick returns for TDs, pick 6's, and fumble recoveries/returns for TDs. Guess we should also throw in safeties. IOW, if the offense is on the field and the team scores, that "game winning drive" or "4t Q comeback" gets credited to the QB. Tebow had 5 4th Q comebacks and 6 game winning drives this year. It's a stat that can't be argued.
I'm not under any misconceptions about this my friend. Here was your statement: What I posted was completely accurate and correct.
I understand where you are coming from. There has been a strong reaction by some Jets fans. Jets fans are a "show me" by your play on the field fan base. It remains to be seen if Tebow will fit in in New York. I happen to think he will because he handles pressure pretty well. I also think Tebow rubs many of them the wrong way because New Yorkers tend to like to say it like it is. Sometimes Tebow comes across as disingenuous and naive when he talks nice about everybody and everything. I personally don't think he is that naive, but that he acts this way because of his religious beliefs. I don't like watching his interviews and would like him to be more direct and honest in his answers. Having said that I do like him as a football player and think he will continue to improve.
his interviews are extremely vanilla, they used to be less so, he had some pretty decent ones in college. His response to June Jones calling him a system QB is pretty smart assed in a subdued way. One thing good I will say about his boring interviews, the media NEVER gets a sound byte to run with. The only time he slipped was the end of offseason last year when Orton didn't get traded and he said it felt like his dream of being a starting qb got stolen. I think his PR people are coaching him on how to try to control the medai frenzy that follows him. Think the media is bad now, imagine if he went all TO and started speaking his mind
He didn't say "stolen" he said "grabbed back away." I know you weren't quoting, but "stolen" is a pretty loaded term. And he pretty much disputed he said it that way. He has to be very careful -- his slightest words will be blown out of proportion, and he'll get blamed for being a "distraction" and "causing a circus." His detractors, even Jets fans at this site, love to sob and cry about the "circus" he causes because of "the media" and "his fans." IN that case, can't really blame him for deflecting questions and avoiding answers that make headlines.
Check out these 'immediately after the game', Denver interviews, which are more raw and spontaneous than the formal 'meet the press' interviews. Seeing them may add another level of understanding to 'Tim the football player' as compaired to 'Tim the media circus ring master'. 10/09/11 Lost to San Diago 24-29 http://www.denverbroncos.com/multim...rs-Tebow/4797a6db-8ae8-4b01-a290-448d47877cdb 10/23/11 Beat Miami 18-15 http://www.denverbroncos.com/multim...ns-Tebow/a68176a2-85cc-4ae4-8587-c025aec94758 10/30/11 Lost to Detroit 10-45 http://www.denverbroncos.com/multim...ns-Tebow/51ddd70c-0d66-4823-bd2c-5362deb8dfbe 11/06/11 Beat Oakland 38-24 http://www.denverbroncos.com/multim...rs-Tebow/bd4d0c50-1927-422d-8b10-431f23d99cb6 11/13/11 Beat Kansas City 17-10 http://www.denverbroncos.com/multim...fs-Tebow/7256156a-19b9-4587-8317-b5102cc3dd22 11/17/11 Beat New York Jets 17-13 http://www.denverbroncos.com/multim...ts-Tebow/9078f14a-fcac-42c8-b278-a2348058d725 11/27/11 Beat San Diago 16-13 http://www.denverbroncos.com/multim...rs-Tebow/fe7f2051-1438-4243-80aa-d04c1c0ad0be 12/04/11 Beat Minnesota 35-32 http://www.denverbroncos.com/multim...gs-Tebow/5ae43543-0d6c-4872-9a2d-62ea73733103 12/11/11 Beat Chicago 13-10 http://www.denverbroncos.com/multim...rs-Tebow/66d569ba-e345-4c21-81b8-971c19afd09a 12/18/11 Lost to New England 23-41 http://www.denverbroncos.com/multim...ts-Tebow/3039a32a-5cb0-4f7b-9c83-712b97922fd7 12/24/11 Lost to Buffalo 14-40 http://www.denverbroncos.com/multim...ls-Tebow/6d48312e-3117-4f47-a95a-332f49957269 1/01/11 Lost to Kansas City 3-7 http://www.denverbroncos.com/multim...fs-Tebow/e2fdad77-37eb-4228-877d-bb004ec5ccc3 1/08/11 Beat Pittsburg 29-23 http://www.denverbroncos.com/multim...rs-Tebow/711cb8ef-ab55-464f-8020-acffb4b63341 1/14/11 Lost to New England 10-45 http://www.denverbroncos.com/multim...ts-Tebow/04058a0b-5060-41ae-8561-165e03bc8ffb
I tried to avoid these threads like the plague, but I have two words for you concerning the chicago/denver game. MARION BARBER. He singlehandedly lost that game for the Bears.
It was a big factor but Tebow going 18 of 24 for 191 yards and a TD , in the 3 scoring drives in the last 8 minutes was also a factor as was Praeter bombing a couple of long kicks. Many different factors usually fall into place for a win in the NFL.
