as long as we get a kicker who doesn't miss a 20 yard field goal in the very first drive against the patriots for the division lead i'm ok with it
Weatherford all in all was very good for us. He had a couple bad late year games, big deal. This year we faced a huge drop off in the punting game and it definitely hurt us. Nick Folk scares me. I love that he's got competition now. I'm tired of him missing chip ins. Go Swayze!
I have always wondered, why do they give kickers extra yards on FGs I mean like on a "50 yards" FG, the ball is placed at about the the 35 yard line. Who decided to make it that way? And why?
The field goal post is at the end of the touch down zone. If the field goal post were right at the 0 yard line, then it would be a 35 yard field goal from 35 yards out. Because the post lays behind the entire end zone, you have to add that distance to calculate the true kicking distance.
you forgot to add where the ball is held after the sanp, which is 7 yards back from the los.so a ball snapped from the 35 = 52 yard fga.
As the Adam Sandler song says "People think it's so easy To kick a field goal from the 30 yard line They forget to add seven yards for the snap And 10 more 'cause the goal posts are pushed way back In 1974, the uprights were right on the goal line But some of the players were running into them And getting hurt So screw the kicker Who cares about the kicker?"
Ahhh Yes, "The Lonesome Kicker".......one of my favorites of all time. Cracks my ass up every time I hear it.....
