What does me not playing in the NFL have to do with my ability to evaluate players' abilities? I'll say it for a third time: being a great sports player does not make you a great talent evaluator.
Am I going to take Ryan Clark's opinion or yours? Von Miller's or yours ? Champ Bailey's or yours? Takeo Spikes' or yours? Vince Wilfork's or yours? guys who played with him and against him .... seriously dude.... Vince Wilfork said he was the strongest player he has ever had to bring down. How can I take your opinion over his on this one? c'mon man... bottom line whether you agree with it or not. he was voted by the NFL players as one of the leagues best 100 ...period.
I don't claim to be a great talent evaluator, but why are NFL players' opinions more valid automatically? Regarding the statement I made above, the reverse is also true: NOT being a great football player does not make you a bad talent evaluator. Look at John Gruden. He played one year of football at a D3 school and one year of football as a back-up at an FCS school. He never played in the NFL, yet he is, in many peoples' opinions (including mine), the greatest Quarterback talent evaluator ever.
Where in my post did I bash Tebow or say he did not deserve to be in the spot? In fact, if you can find any of my posts within my posting history that are insult Tebow, I will concede that you are correct right now. My post was mainly concerned with your sad sad dedication to try to convince JETS fans on a JETS message board that they are stupid for not seeing what you see. I haven't read this thread, BUT... ...if he were really the 95th best player in the NFL, at quarterback and at his age, would he really be traded for a 4th round pick, where the only team that wanted him wanted him as a backup? Jacksonville chose a punter over Tebow. And the top 100 players list was a joke last year, and it's a joke this year. Tony Gonzalez was the #46 player in the NFL. Why? Players have heard of him and he's been around. Eli Manning was NOT in the top 100 players list last year, and he was one of the top QBs in the game who won a Super Bowl.
Read the thread, its been a lot of fun. You make a good point but Gene Smith's entire legacy at Jacksonville is on Blaine Gabbert so anything that would upset that already very weak mind (Gabbert's ) would have derailed that. At the end of the day the NFL players themselves voted him in which says a lot.

This should have been my response to you : I am not trolling just getting ready for the barrage that's coming because NFL players hold Tebow in high regard.
The NFL players don't watch every game. Half the players in the NFC have only seen Tim Tebow highlights because they have no reason to watch tape. For every NFL player who is a huge fan and watches as much as they can, there are 5 who only do enough to watch film for the teams they are playing against. Fans and analysts follow Tebow's career much more than most players do. You're going to listen to the players because you are a Tebow fan. I'm going to listen to my brain and the thoughts of many other people who watch the games even more than most players do.
Well I choose to listen to Rayn Clark, Vince Woolfork, Champ Bailey, Takeo Spikes, Von Miller, you know guys who actually played against him and with him over fans on a message baord (they all went on record either last night or previously stating exactly why they liked him on list and other stuff etc). The analyst (for the most part ) agreed with the pick in the after show as well. They are talking about 2011. They are not analyzing his QB skills. I think if you view it objectively you need to relaize that the fact that he can be a QB, full back, Half Back, TE etc is a big deal. He really is a good football player and is really good in the clutch. Its easy to see why they voted him in. Also the fact that he energized the broncos and won their first playoff game in many , many years (in spectacular highlight fashion) was a big deal and he had a lot to do with it.
Exactly. NFL players see, hmm, he took over a bad team and won games there, and everyone talks about how good he was, so we might as well put him on the list. ESPECIALLY if he beat your team last year. A guy like Clark is embarrassed he lost to Tebow so he votes him on the list since he must be good to beat the Steelers. Tebow is a phenomenon. Every time you mention Tebow, ratings soar. It's crazy, really, if you see First Take ratings when they talk Tebow as opposed to when they don't. It's insane. ESPN, NFL Network, everyone wants Tebow to be good so he can keep bringing ratings.
I am not going to disagree with what you just said. He is still on the list though, its cool for Tebow fans and Jets fans (it should be anyway) . It's cool for the Jets FO because they gave up very little to get him and its a great honor for Tebow (think about what he had to overcome to get on the list, all the players that resent him because of the media coverage etc) . watering it down or trying to degrade it (not saying you I am talking in general) is weak.
Sometimes circumstances dictate -- timing, contract, whether there's a need, etc. For example, Kurt Warner was released outright by the Rams, even though in hindsight that was not a reflection of his value. But he had a huge contract and was coming off being benched. Big trades are getting to be more rare for players that are in their prime (if you're going to have to pay market anyway), because free agency is a way to get players without giving up players or picks. Mike Wallace is very valuable as a player, but no one wants to give up the pick in exchange for the honor of paying his contract.
It doesn't -- it's just a separate thing on its own that can't be discounted. A recognition to be enjoyed for a brief period, but one that will be irrelevant going into this year.
I have no problem with Tebow on the list. It's a popularity contest. Here's how much credibility it has as an accurate portrayal of how good a player was in 2011: it's been confirmed that Peyton Manning is on the list without playing a down last year, and it wouldn't shock me if he's in the top 20.
NFL players voting Tebow in on popularity ? I can understand Peyton Manning but Tebow? The opposite is true as reported all year by ESPN and NFL network that he was disliked by other players because of all the coverage. So its the opposite of what you said, he made it in spite of his lack of popularity among other players and if you want to know why just listen to guys like Vince Woolfork who said "tebow is one of the storngest guys I have ever had to bring down" or Ryan Clark saying "he wins" . its not popularity.
90% of football fans and analysts (that aren't long-time Tebow lovers) think it's absurd that he's a top 100 football player in the NFL. Jets fans don't want to accept it because we don't agree with it, and things like this only serve to perpetuate the notion of a quarterback controversy. And Jets fans don't want that.
