ya, i saw those pics, pats improved defensively with those two, all while the jets have turner starting at tackle. not good from where i sit.
coples had a good junior yr and a down senior season. nowhere have i read he's the best pass rusher. if anything, jones and ingram are rated better pass rushers than coples. we'll see soon enough, i just don't like the fact coples was voted #1 most likely to bust.
Guy is a pass rushing beast and is good against the run. His motor has been questioned this past year which kinda sucks but I have faith in Rex. People saying he's Gholston 2.0 before even seeing him play half a season is a fucking ass clown.
Don't love the pick .Could be the end of Rex/T? Don't compare the kid to Gholston, this kid will play his natural position and get even bigger. My worry? A little bit of body language and our desperate need at OLB. Rex took a bunch of gambles here: 1) on this kid's nature 2) passing on surer things and trade down options 3) this is a BIG vote of confidence in Maybin. 4)Still need a OLB,RT and WR.
So many SOJF B.S. So easy to sit on a couch and say "Gholston 2.0! Bust! What a terrible pick!". Then if he busts, you are the great prognosticator and can tell us that you called it. If he is a pro bowler, you can still say "we should've taken player x 6 spots later who turned into a superstar" or just keep your mouth shut and hope nobody calls you on your stupidity. Truth is, none of us know what the fuck we are talking about. Hell, even the guys who do this for a living are making an educated guess. I trust Rex, Tanny and the staff. They have done their homework and I hope he becomes a great Jet. Welcome to the team QC.
Ingram is much more likely to be Gholston 2.0. We needed a pass rusher bad, any Jets fan know this and has spoken about it - and we just got possibly the best pure pass rusher in the draft...and most of you do not seem happy. Don't get it. Welcome aboard Coples...go hit Brady!
Nothing new here. I like the pick because the guy is going to play the same position he did in college. It makes our D-line young, and we still have 5+ picks to go to see how else the Jets try to round out the team from this draft. Off-topic, how are your teams evenly split between NY/Boston? I have Jets/Yankees too, but its rounded out with Ranges/Knicks. I guess you took TD Banknorth and went Celtics/Bruins?
Why do people ask if the jets are switching to a 4-3? Though the jets base D is 3-4, they run 4-3 sets ALL the time. And it will continue with pouha wilk cop ellis
Rex was DL coach at Baltimore before he was DC before he was HC here. If he really thinks Coples is going to work as a 3-4 line threat then he's got the benefit of the coubt from me. There's no way the Jets make this pick if Rex is not really happy with it. Too much at stake.
I don't get it, I've said it all along, Coples can play olb in a 3-4, he also ran a 4.71 in the 40.I'm not comparing the two but, Mario Williams? If Rex doesn't try hi At least at olb I'll be pissed
