Milan Michalek may have also caught the eye of the league's disciplinary line. The winger kicked defenseman Dan Girardi twice during the goal-mouth scramble that led to Ottawa's controversial goal with less than 39 seconds remaining.
Senators tough guy Chris Neil is already a pretty unpopular guy in the Rangers' dressing room -- his questionable hit in Game 5 left Brian Boyle with a concussion -- and he certainly did not make any new friends Monday night with comments made following the Rangers' 3-2 win in Ottawa. The gritty winger issued a thinly-veiled threat to Rangers defenseman Michael Del Zotto, whose hit in the third left Neil down on the ice for several minutes. He skated off on his own power and returned to the game, but was not happy when asked about it after the game. "I'm sure I'll catch him with his head down one of these times," he said, according to several reports. Neil avoided any supplementary discipline for his hit on Boyle but may incur the wrath of the NHL's Department of Player Safety with his recent remarks. Shutup you fuckin' hypocrite crybaby Mary!
There is no question in my mind that the NHL officials are blatantly favoring the Senators in this series. There is a vested interest (aka $$$$$) in keeping a Canadian team in these playoffs as long as possible. With Vancouver trounced by LA, the Senators are the only shot they have left. It's beyond ridiculous: Between a blatant attempt to injure Brian Boyle being ignored to a puck clearly being kicked into the net being called a goal, the NHL officials are not even bothering to cover up their bias.
DarrenDreger M.Michalek may face sup disc for shoving (kicking)Girardi with his skate last night.Very similar to Skinner in March which earned 2 gm susp.
Given the way he's played in the series, I might write to Shanahan encouraging him to enforce a suspension.
Giradi and McD are so technically sound on the puck, but I just wish they would develop that killer instinct when it comes to clearing traffic in front on Hank.
JE, I'm appalled frankly that your bitching about the refs........are u effin kidding me? The Sens did an awesome job of losing their composure taking lazy penalties and negating their own power plays on several occasions, the Foligno goalie interference was far closer to interference than what Kreider did to Anderson. All that shit evened out as evidenced by the power play opportunities.......The Rangers capitalized the Sens did not......and you got a goal on a goalie interference & kick in to boot. Loved the Rangers calm in the face of adversity last night........same approach next game and they move on. Neil threatening retribution.....lol....and this guy didn't get suspended? And MDZ better not get any discipline, after all it wasn't a penalty on the ice and therefore a legal hit, right Johnny? Glad Stepan shut me up the last 2 games........he was clutch last night as was Richards. Gaborik still pissing me off not only with his lack of production but his attitude on the ice, he's sulking, even when they Rangers were scoring..maybe he shuts me up in Game 7.
no kidding, my one critique last night was again, lack of Ranger traffic in front of the net, and the inability to get the Sens away from Hank. They are jamming 2 guys in front a lot of times.
hmmm. i beg to differ about the favoring the sens. i am not a fan of either team but that stretch in the 2nd period - 2 of those penalties on the senators were cupcake calls. i couldn't believe it. especially the one involving the ranger goalie. the guy was checked into him and he was in no control to avoid contact. even rosen and micheletti were speechless and didn"t say anything objective about the call. i expect that from rosen but i thought micheletti was a bit more objective. that succession of calls against the sens set the tone and the rangers took full advantage.
That was Stepan's finest performance since probably his debut game in Buffalo last year when he netted the hat trick. He was a force. Obviously given the circumstances, that was his best game as a pro
“@SunGarrioch: Shayne Corson was suspended in 2002 for Game 7 vs. the Islanders for trying to kick Eric Cairns #Sens” Also from Garrioch: NHL looking at Michalek Incident. Source said Girardi was complaining his pant leg was cut. No decision on hearing ... yet. Precedent has been set...Lets see if Shanny has the guts to make a call. Would not be surprised with Girardi getting a $2500 fine for complaining haha
