I'm really just saying I don't see much of a difference between Ropati/Dixon and Merling. If they want to bring in Merling to compete with them, by all means. Merling has some talent, but he doesn't seem like a great guy or a hard worker.

3-4 rookie DE getting doubled and tripled, but still getting the job done (which is: setting the edge and redirecting the runs/and pushing the pocket from the QB's blindside) - isn't that what you want out of your book-end 3-4 DE?

Maybe you weren't impressed with Wilkerson because you failed to notice these crucial things that he did for the team.

i did see double teams yes, it comes with the position of 3/4 defensive end and wilkerson was not the only player to be doubled. but then again, he wasn't always doubled.

i'm not saying wilk will not be a good 3/4 defensive end, but stud/star? a long way to go before he fits that description.
