Anybody else think they will challenge for the division?

What is your overall feeling about them after their offseason so far?

They've upgraded defense, if nothing else.

I expect both Bills-Jets games to be tied at 0-0 after OT.

I could see them going 9-7 or 6-10. If they can build off the beginning of last year, they could realign things, send MIA to the cellar

I think they are 9-7 at best this season. On offense I don't think they need that much help (besides a long term QB - maybe 2013 draft). Fred Jackson/CJ Spiller is a good one two combo at RB. If Jackson stays healthy I think Fitz can make that offense move. Their Offensive line is improving.

Chandler is a solid TE in the red zone. WR is an issue. Stevie Johnson is a great number 2 -- but he's forced to be the 1 on the Bills. They have no deep threat (not that Fitz throws a great deep ball anyway). Brad Smith is the 3rd WR on their depth chart. They should trade down a few spots and try to land Michael Floyd IMO.

I know all the talk is how improved their defense will be this year. But I don't know if i'm buying into that. I think the addition of Mario Williams and Mark Anderson will improve them -- but by how much? They are both mainly pass rushers (especially Anderson -- he's an older version of Maybin). That's a solid D Line with K Williams and Darius but I don't think the pass rushing issue was the biggest problem facing their D last year.

They can't stop ANYONE from running the ball. They have been in the bottom of the league in run defense for the past three seasons. Other than Barnett they have no linebackers. Merriman? Arthur Moats? Yikes...

Drayton Florence is a solid number 2 CB but they need a 1. George Wilson is a beast -- one of the better safeties in the league IMO. Byrd is overrated. He got 10 picks his rookie year (I think half were from Sanchez) but watching games he looks lost out there at times.

Great special teams. Moorman is the best punter in the NFL. Lindell is a solid kicker.

If the Bills could hire someone that knew how to draft I think this team could turn around quickly. They haven't had a good draft in a decade (last year has potential but can't grade just yet.)

8-8. They'll beat teams they shouldn't beat and lose to teams they should kill. Better idea after the draft though.

I think they have a shot. They have more talent on defense than we do, which is pretty unfortunate

They have improved tremendously over the past 5 years. That said the key for our jets against buffalo and new England are:

    1) Run the football
    2) hit the quarterback

Where we achieve this we find great success.

For starters Super Mario will help against the run as well. Also Anderson will be a 3rd down specialist for them, Chris Kelsay will still start and be the primary run defender.

If i were the bills GM, i would be drafting Kuechly for just that reason. You can get WR's later in the draft, and a guy like Mike Adams may be available when you pick in round 2 (he seems to be sliding fast) or if they get cold feet, they could package picks to move up in round 2.

Personally, I am hoping they take Reiff, I just think he is destined to be a RT in the NFL, and since the Bills need a LT pretty badly, taking a future RT to play the left side would work out just fine for me.

The Bills are going to be a team to be reckoned with if they put together another good draft, anyone who thinks otherwise is just fooling themselves.

Chan Gailey is the best thing to hit Buffalo in a long time. I get to watch a lot of Bills games but because I'm not a fan it is easier to see improvement where most Bills fans are still in the doom and gloom mode. The early breakout last season wasn't a fluke. The problem was that players didn't know how to deal with it. Their fans and media put a lot of pressure on a team that was still rebuilding. Gailey warned everyone that there was still football to be played. The loss to the Jets was a big turning point. For whatever reason, the Jets really got inside their heads to the degree that when playing Dallas the following week it appeared that the Jets were still on their minds. From that point on Gailey was fighting a losing battle against the psyche of the players. Injuries began to mount and the season was over.

Because some teams are going to believe that the beginning of last season was a fluke, they will become complacent and pay the price. When training camp starts there will be no doubt that Gailey is in charge. While I still think they are in a rebuilding process they definitely have the ability to have a winning season. Whether they remain in Buffalo when Wilson dies is anyone's guess.

Didn't the Bills go 1-7 on the road last year?

I do think they're headed in the right direction but that's just awful.

They will be better than the dolphins. The dolphins look like their planning for the future and not now and I can see them going 4-12. The Bills I see finishing either 7-9 or 8-8. Until Fitzpatrick can prove that he can stay consistent I don't see them competing for the division.

I agree that Mario will help with the run. But one guy isn't going to turn this team from 29th to top 5 in run defense. Kelsay is not good at anything. I'm actually shocked he still has a roster spot. He's been middle of the road DE his whole career. And now he's on the downside. Darius didn't impress me any more than Mo Wilkerson last year. Kyle Williams returning will be a big boost for them if he can stay healthy.

They need run stuffing LB's bad. Which you can also pick up later in the draft.

Their O-Line was better than expected last year. They are young -- and I only expect them to get better. I don't think I draft OL in the first round if I'm buffalo. I try to get a number 1 WR (trade down and get more picks in the process). That offense is actually pretty scary with someone that has talent across from Stevie Johnson and a healthy Fred Jackson in the backfield.
