If Scott slims down, he will become more agile again. I wouldn't mind seeing a slimmer, quicker Scott next year.
He has so far this offseason, although I'd hate to see a slimmer Bart Scott still be unable to perform competently in pass coverage and fail to do well against the run without the extra weight..
It's Rex's fault for putting him in a position where he had to cover routes. This team needs to better adapt to the strength of its players.
Hopefully he'll play his best using the motivation "for all you non-believers" and display "poetic justice" with his play.
Bart is fraud and I can't believe everyone can't see through this. The only reason he is doing this is because, #1 there is no trade market for him, #2 the Jets are not going to cut him because of the guarantee and will only let him if go if they get something in return, and #3 he will be cut next year by the Jets so he better get some good tape together. Jets have a crapload of $$$ coming off the cap next with Pace at $8.5m, Scott at $7.1m, Hunter at $4m and Smith at $3m. That is a total of $22.6m in cap space they will free up along with David Harris being a prime candidate for a restructure (converting base into bonus) to free up additional cap room.
I contemplated making a new thread, figured what the hell Not really caring about the role part, but the fact that he lost 10-15 pounds. I wonder how much of a difference thats going to make on his quickness, as well as hopefully reducing injury risk. 15 pounds is pretty damn significant, and I guess he also figured out that even though hes under contract for next year that hes DEFINITELY getting cut after this season. So Scotts pretty much in a contract year. I think hes gonna surprise people this year
^Scott was better than people made him out to be on here prior to losing the weight. Glad to hear he's in shape.
I agree with your assessment but only under the premise that the futre at ILB is addressed whether it be by drafting one early or commiting to the development of Nick Ballore who has shown promise. I ultimately think Scott would be very good in a Pepper Johnson 97/98 type role. A 5th linebacker who can play any position in the corps, and fill game specifc roles in certain defensive packages.
Never liked his addition to the team , but understood why it was done . A 6 year 48 million dollar and then they guarantee the 2012 portion only to float his name out there as trade bait. I don't think anyone can truly understand why that was done when he obviously has no value out there. He served his purpose and is no longer a viable player for what we need. "Glorified Cheerleader" "cant wait" Me neither !
