Andy said his legs are out of shape (no surprise), but, more importantly, he wants to get them "properly tuned up" before progressing to the next step in his throwing program. He's only thrown two simulated innings thus far.

Signed RHP Jason Bulger to a minor league deal. He was cut by the Twinkies last week.

So by default the rotation is CC>Kuroda>Nova>Hughes>Garcia..... We've dealt with worse. Bring it.

Tim Kurkjian: the Yankees' starting rotation is no better than fifth in the AL this year.

He ranks the Tampa Bay Rays, the Los Angeles Angels, the Texas Rangers and the Boston Red Sox ahead of us, in that order.

What a dunce that Kurkjian is.

I expect he will be ready by May 1st..then the real fun begins..who's up, who's down. If they have 7 healthy bodies it will make for some really difficult decisions.

WHAT!? THe Red Sox rotation is terrible. The constantly overrated Jon Lester, Mixed Bag Fried Chicken Chin-pubes, Clay "I can't stay healthy EVER" Bucholtz, Daniel Bard (who wore out last season as a freaking reliever), and Alfredo Aceves (who has never really had great success as a starter).

That rotation is borderline putrid past Lester. The Red Sox will win 85 games and miss the playoffs, The Yankees win between 96 and 100 games. Book it.

Bard's the fifth starter and Aceves is in the bullpen. Their fourth starter is... Felix Doubront.

Final roster decision comes down to the last 2 bullpen spots. They're considering either a LHP and a RHP or two RHP's.

    Candidates for the final spots:
    LHP Clay Rapada
RHP's Adam Warren, David Phelps, and DJ Mitchell

    Cervelli sent to AAA

Don't understand the rationale here. Chris Stewart sucks. Kontos still has potential. Cervelli is a solid backup catcher who had a knack for a big hit.

Edit: Apparently Romine back injury isn't getting any better, need minor league depth. Hmmm

Not a great move but I agree with it. Kontos has little upside and was way down on the bullpen depth chart. I like Cervelli, but, because he has options, trading for an extra catcher and former Yankee to provide depth at catcher is fine in my book. This means more about the (lack of) development from Austin Romine and Gary Sanchez than it does about Cervelli's abilities.

I have a love/hate for Cervelli. Sometimes he pisses me the fuck off. I hate when he sits on his ass behind the plate. It was funny when he clapped at home plate and pissed off the Red Sox that one time, fuckin dumbass.

Romine and Sanchez are the future, R Martin is the stopgap. Don't really care who the backup is this year they are bound to suck.

    Good news

Pettitte pitched the 6th, throwing one scoreless inning against the Mets. Gave up only one hit and no walks. He, as expected, received a standing ovation when he took the mound.

Didn't realize his back injury was that bad. Makes sense-- let him rest before making him catch and risk further injury. Romine's ahead of Sanchez on the Majors ETA; but without Romine healthy neither should hit the majors this year (pending a barrage of injuries and no available catchers to acquire).
