Doesn't matter one little bit. They offered him 12 mil in December to come back and he turned it down, he is now making 2.5 and they have no intention in letting him stay in the minors. He is Andy freakin Pettitte after all.

I can't say anything bad about Andy Pettitte but you can't ever jump the gun on an old pitcher (39 turning 40) that took a year off and (to this point) has yet to pitch even a simulated game

Pineda tried throwing harder tonight and hurt his shoulder. MRI tomorrow.

Well I guess this is one way to solve the "too much pitching" dilemma.

    ^Fuck.

Are we going to see Banuelos or Betances in September? Does it come down to how they pitch this year at AAA or wherever they are? I know Betances is having a nice spring.

Barring injury, both will be September call ups at the very least. Even if Pineda's out, there's still a lot of starting depth before we get to Banuelos, so it's likely he'll spend the entire year in AAA. But you never know.

Betances is the first to pitch (older, has major league experience), but both pitched at AA and a little AAA last year so this year could change that. They'll both be up for the 40 man roster expansion in September, but if a call-up is needed before that then Betances is likely first to come up.

Yankees right-hander Michael Pineda reported tightness behind his right shoulder on Friday and, after competing for a rotation spot all spring, will begin the season on the disabled list.

Remember a few years ago when the Yankees had another 22-year-old RHP who could amp it up to the high 90s diagnosed with shoulder tendinitis? Yeah, I don't want to think about that, either.

Although I still think they should have kept Joba as a starter.

has Rivera's motion evolved into a balk? A lot of the time i'm watching him, I don't notice his hands coming to a stop while in his "set" position... I doubt any umpire would actually call him on it, but just something i noticed the last couple times watching him

    http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/official_rules/pitcher_8.jsp
The pitcher, following his stretch, must (a) hold the ball in both hands in front of his body and (b) come to a complete stop. This must be enforced. Umpires should watch this closely. Pitchers are constantly attempting to “beat the rule” in their efforts to hold runners on bases and in cases where the pitcher fails to make a complete “stop” called for in the rules, the umpire should immediately call a “Balk.”

Is it just me or is that about the ugliest stadium ever made? The green trim clashes with the yellow-green of the field, that thing in center field that will light up when a HR is hit looks like the hat that Chiquita Banana woman wears. Just ugly all the way around.

Everything about the Marlins' presentation is ugly. Those jerseys are fucking repugnant as well.... Solid roster though.

That's very possible I'm going to watch for it now. Do you have any links to recent videos of him pitching? Too lazy to look

Not only did this not happen because of Pineda's injury but the other potential "Garcia blocker" was LHP Cesar Cabral who has been diagnosed with a stress fracture on the tip of his elbow. He's out indefinitely.

Pineda officially said he's going to revisit and work on his mechanics.

Also, Pettitte is working with Pineda a little.
