A coach can be great and still be a jerk. Not saying he is though, but Revis is just saying what he believes is true, rather than scripting a PR answer. It was a pretty funny and awkward interview overall though haha.
It's just that he cheated along his way to three Super Bowls. Or that he cheated on his wife and his little fairy tale QB followed suit. It's just that he dresses like he is walking out to get his paper in the morning to coach on the sidelines in the NFL. I wasn't even a fan of regular season football yet, but maybe it has something to do with..."I resign as HC of the NYJ". Or that he has trouble shaking hands after getting beat. Then, we have to hear how from Pats fans (and to a lesser extent every moron that has access to the internet) how we are classless. It's not so much Belichick, although there is a fair amount to be displeased with. And I hadn't even begun really to list the grievances as they apply on the field. It's more about the certain population of imbecilic fans that spout 'classless' towards the Jets because of a foot fetish video and trash-talking. Or maybe it was that hot dog? My coach thinks he's going to win the Super Bowl every year, so does yours. Belichick does win though, no doubt. Ask junc or similar astute historians how he did before Pioli's miracle 6th rounder turned into a Hall of Famer.
AGREEEEED!!!!! They are classless! And like Bart Scott said once they talk just as much shit as anyone if not more theyre just too big of pu$$ies to do it in front of a camera. Theyre classless but its ok cause they win and keep ratings up so dont worry. You can be the worlds biggest douchebag but if you win championships its ok youre a saint!
To be fair, the last time they played it was Belichick who told the Jets' D, including Revis, to suck his dick. I can imagine why that might give the impression he's a jerk.
Belichick is a great HC but a fuckin d-bag and will always be to me after he fucked our franchise over. Coughlin owns Belichick.
OH MY GAWD. An opposing member one of the most heated Rivalries in the NFL called the opposing coach a jerk? No waiii. I think you just got trolled by Revis.
I am pretty sure it was just joking around - like his Moss/Slouch comment last time around, but people like to get over excited by these things.
While it certainly seems to be true, Revis is still a veteran and should take more of a leadership role on the team and lead by example. I don't think it was right for him to say that. It kinda makes us look bad as a team since we are already looked at as big mouthed fools who talk it but don't walk it.
The Jets are classless!!11!1!!!!1 This is every opposing fan reaction. The best is when Pats fans do it. The same that did lights out on the chargers logo, waved the terrible towel in front of steelers, does the Jet plane in a 45-3, and then Deion Branch and the fans complain the Jets celebrate like a Jet on their field after a win. How classless of them. Or you know what is really classless, how about when Rex says he is always outmatched by Bill and that with Brady and Bill the Pats will always have an advantage at QB and coach. What a terrible thing to say!
Darrelle Revis is from Aliquippa, PA. He grew up idolizing Ty Law who is from Aliquippa PA. Law and Revis have been fairly close for quite awhile now. Of course he thinks Belichik is a jerk because that's what Ty Law thinks. Belichik has made a career of telling great CB's to go screw themselves. He has no fans in that area.
I think you're reading into it a little too much. He called BB a jerk because he is one. I'm sure people on his own team think that but everyone looks past it because he wins. Doesn't make him less of an asshole though.
Kerry Rhodes was real friendly with Belichik when he was here. That's because Belichik went out of his way to talk to him and make nice at the pro bowl and similar events. It got to the point where people figured Belichik was talking Rhodes up so that the Pats could make him an offer when he hit free agency. Lawyer Milloy, Ty Law and Asante Samuel all saw a different side of Belichik and that's the side Revis has mostly seen because of his close relationship with Law and fraternal relationship with Samuel as one of the elite CB's in the NFL. I don't think it is reading anything into it to say that Revis opinion of Belichik is formed by the people most like him in the NFL who have had close contact with Belichik over the years. The one head coach in the NFL who would clearly let Revis go instead of paying him a huge cap-busting contract is Belichik. He's already done that a couple of times in the last decade.
