People keep talking about how Tebow was brought in to be a backup or a WC QB.

I'm not so sure he isn't being expected to compete for the starting job.

I don't know much about Orton, but lets look at the stats the year before each faces Tebow:
    Stat Sanchez(11) Orton(10)
    Cmpl % 56.7 58.8
    TD/INT 26/18 20/9 (3 less games)
    Yrds/Gm 217 281
    Rating 78.2 87.5

Kyle was a better QB on paper going into last year than Sanchez is this year no?

The difference is where they are in their careers. It's completely reasonable to expect Sanchez to get better (same with Tebow to a lesser extent). Orton was a clear stopgap.

Vince Young has a better winning percentage than Marino and Drew Brees. Put him in the Hall of Fame immediately.

As much as people blame Tebowmania for Orton getting benched - it was Orton's 4-14 record while Tebow was on the bench that was the issue.

Orton is a "great" QB on a losing team he'll put up #s so the average fan is fooled into thinking he is better than he is. He is nowhere near as good as Sanchez.

I have seen both play and Sanchez is far better than Orton. Orton put up great stats in absolutely meaningless situations (eg down three touchdowns in the fourth quarter), but in the red zone or on 3rd down in a tight ballgame he would "fetal up", randomly drop the ball, throw an int or sack himself lol.

LOL you people have your heads so far up your fucking asses it's unfuckingbelievable. Mark Sanchez is a better Quarterback than that Dave Grohl looking, Kyle Orton. Sanchez has done more in his 3 years than Orton has done and will ever do. If we don't fuck with Mark and fuck up his career, he will be 10x better than Orton when he reaches that age.

you mean to say he does all the same things sanchez did this year when he didn't have a defense to carry his sorry arse?

when sanchez had to take on more responsibility, he sucked!

32 touchdowns is sucking? He didn't play like everyone expected him to, but to say he sucked is overreacting. Sanchez also didn't have very many garbage time TD's if thats what your saying also. Most of TD's game in the RZ actually when we needed them.

Orton has a better Qb rating. How is Sanchez far better?

Playing from behind will give you better stats against defenses bending. This is rediculous. I know why the thread was started. But it came out wrong.

You can't compare the situations and thought processes of 2 totally different organizations based on that weak set of stats.

Unless they're Tebow's stats....then everyone can agree he sucks based on those same stats no questions asked ;)

Btw, are we going to pretend like this isn't a stealth, Tebow should start thread?

Ok well in other news.....the "back-up" QB just arrived on a private Jet and is being swarmed by the mediots.

Tebow was a first round draft pick......might have been under a different regime but he was eventually going to see the field for Denver, they invested a lot in him.

The Jets invested a lot in Sanchez, they just inked him to an extension. I really dont think Tebow was brought in here to replace Mark, it just makes no sense to me. Tanny, Rex, and the other football people have to be able to see that Tebow is a terrible passer and that his only value to a team comes from his ability to run the ball which is where he fits here. Throw on top of that the hype he brings, and the amount of Jersey's he will sell and you have your reason why he is a New York Jet.
