Where in the world would you come up with the idea that we could get even remotely close to a 4th round pick for Drew Stanton?

I agree with you, but ironically the team is better now than it was last year which is the funniest part. We've lost no one who wasn't replaceable, and gained a good safety, a competent OC, and added a new wrinkle to our offense.

Of course ESPN has the dramatic headline story covering the plight of Drew Stanton...
    http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/sto...drew-stanton-wants-tim-tebow-deal-source-says
"Stanton is said to be unhappy because he was promised the No. 2 job and turned down more lucrative opportunities with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs to play for the Jets. He received a $500,000 signing bonus, but he could have a hard time finding a new team because the backup jobs are filling up."

    Sucks for him

Return the signing bonus & get your release. Else hold the clip board & smile.

he probably will, but I think we should trade him. plenty of teams need a backup, could probably get a 6th or 7th round pick for him.

They say all the backup jobs have pretty much been filled now. He is probably still better off being #3 on the Jets then being out of work all together. Not to mention he has a great contract for a number 3...he better think it over before he gets stupid.

I agree, he's getting good money to be a 3rd QB however where I'd be pissed if I was him is that he won't have a legit shot to win the #2 job.

The Stanton signing is the only calamity of this Tebow trade. it was no secret that Denver was interested in Manning for weeks, so Tebow becoming available shouldn't have been unexpected.

if the Jets were interested in Tebow, why sign Stanton until the situation resolved itself and you knew whether you had a shot at Tebow or not? Stanton isn't some "elite" backup that you can't risk passing up on.

I'm usually pretty optimistic about our front office decision making, but this is a pretty bad decision that has me scratching my head about their competence.

I don't think Tebow does either and if Sanchez were to get hurt then I think the competition would be wide open.

I agree. The move wreaks of incompetence/a lack of FO unity.

This one really smells like a Woody Johnson move to me. He'll be making good money on this one.

That's really reaching...Stanton would have signed with Tampa or somewhere else but you think the Jets should have just assumed it would be Denver that Manning decided on and then Denver would be trading Tebow for sure and they would only trade him to the Jets and not to some place in Florida who would probably overpay for him...is that what you think, really?

    Tebow should be starter

Stanton can backup Tim as the starter once Sanchez is demoted to third string.

no, that's not what I think at all, and nothing I stated even remotely resembles your interpretation. Try to keep up.

The entire point is who gives a shit if Stanton signed with Tampa Bay. it is Drew Stanton. no big deal if we don't get him. I'm not sure how you missed that part of my post, considering your entire rebuttal is based on the point that we could have missed out on him. I already said I don't give a shit if we had. why is that so confusing for you?

nothing I said inferred anything was a guarantee. but what was a 99% certainty was that if Denver got Manning Tebow was getting traded.

considering the fact that Denver was pursuing Manning, nothing about Drew Stanton warrants signing him knowing that Tebow was possibly going to be available. if you miss out on both Tebow and Stanton, big fucking deal.

I don't know what is more fucking ridiculous, your complete lack of understanding or what I posted or thinking Stanton was someone the Jets couldn't risk missing out on.

Do you have any reason for you posting in every thread you want Tebow to start and Sanchez to be 3rd string, or are you just trolling? Methinks it's the latter.

I said it on another thread. It was a stupid, selfish move bt Tanny to get him if they had other plans. He came here because he felt as number 2 he could get a chance to show his stuff. There's more for him than just the money. They took away any chance for him to play
