The draft maybe, i mean there hasnt been a team ever who has filled every single need and not need anything. Some of you guys are ridiculous when it comes to your expectations. Your not going to fill every single hole in one off-season. You would have no money for upcoming off seasons. We are down 1!!! freaking pick and everybodys going crazy, u know we have about 4-5 compensation picks coming right
I think we get that 4th back for Ellis hopefully. Wish they would hurry up and announce those comp picks.
No we don't have a "full load" of draft picks. That would indicate that we had 7. We don't have a fourth rounder now - we may get compensatory picks but that is not a given. That said, given our recent draft history, having more picks may not even matter.
Let's see, so we'll probably trade half our draft away to move up and take Richardson. Then we'll take a CB, RB and a QB with our remaining late round picks.
Br4 I'm with you 100%. It is abundantly clear now that some of these moves were made more for money in the stands than to improve the team for the long run. If I were Stanton I would feel betrayed. So we get people and move them like cattle depending on what comes next. We get irate when players do that but this FO leads by example. The wild cat excuse is just that, a band aid. With this approach we will never be great. I was hoping that every chance would be given to Sanchez this year and then make an assessment. Instead we will have a 3 ring circus, moving situational players in and out while the tough competition will stay on the field and kick our ass. So the biggest move this year in FA so far is to stock pile 2 more QBs, potentially going to the season with 4 candidates, none of which apparently can be dependent upon to lead this team.
as much as i dislike tebow, he does add another dimension to our offense. he can throw some what and run really well. If you have sanchez n tebow w/ a rb in the backfield it will create chaos for the defense. granted this will happen only once or twice a game, but they can turn out to be big plays. as far as RT is concerned, vlad i believe will step up as a full offseason/pre-season are under his belt. as for #2 wr, i am not sure what will happen...maybe he'll be drafted. safety, landry will help with that. backup qb we have stanton/mcleroy, we'll address the LBs in draft. i believe maybin will have a solid year as our pass rusher
Did you really expect them to fill all their needs given the limited cap space? The Jets don't need significant turnover...that's what caused alot of the problems last season. As for your laundry list of needs...what about the need to push Sanchez to take some accountability and become a stand up leader? What about the need for a playmaker who can replace what the Jets miss in Brad Smith & even Leon Washington? You may have chosen to go a different route..but can you at least acknowledge that tebow DOES fill some needs & there is a football related thought process to bringing him in? I'm not sure where you come up with this notion that the Jets have drafted poorly. What's wrong with Wilkerson?Wilson?Conner?kerely?Mcknight? I see alot more hits than so misses. I also see alot of subjective second guessing..but what do I know?
No punter?! It's definitely risky if the Jets trade up in the draft, especially if its not for a OL or OLB. I hope the Jets aren't waiting on the draft to fix all the holes because while you can speculate who might be available, you don't know until draft day and you don't want to be reaching to fill a need. The Tebow trade doesn't make sense yet because if all this is to light a fire under Sanchez, it is a very round about and ill conceived way of doing it. If they are only brining in Tebow to run the WC, a 4th seems a bit much to do especially since Kerley was solid in it. Add in the Jets just stated TEbow is the #2 QB, definitely not here just to run the WC then. I am not sure what the front office is doing or planning currently, but this is one of the most confusing off seasons I can remember. We, as fans, were expecting a quieter offseason due to cap and who was available and looking to attack in the draft. Not only do the Jets not stay quiet, they probably trade for the biggest media name in football and the biggest lightning rod in sports. If they did it just for the headlines, it clearly worked, but the Jets would get headlines no matter what. Just tell Rex to say something like "We believe we are good team" and wait a day and the headline would be "Rex predicts SB again!!"
ellis didn't play enough to amount to a 4th rd comp pick, jets will be lucky to get a sixth. too many are embellishing the comp picks as being higher than what they'll really be.
LOL, TALK ABOUT SUNSHINE, TOO FUNNY! fact is, after the season sanchez had last year, the last thing one would want to do is ruin his mental health. sanchez was on shaky ground as it was for the start of next season, bringing in a guy like tebow has got to be the worst idea of all the stupid moves made by tanny and in this case woody! i'll bet sanchez doesn't make it thru 8 games before being replaced. then the second paragraph of your sunshine post is even more hillarious. i guess the jets are superbowl bound by your thinking. at best, the team gets a few improved plays a game out of the wildcat, at worst, the jets continue being the laughing stock of the league and the front office finally gets fired! tanny's last two drafts have amounted to kerley being it's best pick, that right there should scare the hell out of most jets fans!
whats wrong is you're over rating those players far more than what they have contributed, especially from where they were drafted. wilson was a #1 pick, but hasn't performed like a #1. wilkerson? we still don't know if he's going to be a good player or not, he hasn't done anything to this point to give much of a grade. the others, jags!
they keep telling fans they have a plan, lol. a few days ago they signed stanton and now tebow. they have a plan? they're winging it by the seat of their pants and making themselves look like fools in the process. just read papers from around the country or visit neutral football forums, the jets continue to be the joke of the league. jets fans should be so proud, lol. funny thing is, many are! lol
nah i am not on the smoke pipe all the time...no way they're going to superbowl next year unless a miracle happens (which i am assuming tebow is already praying for) yes i said we can address holes our via draft but i never said they'll all pan out
What have you seen from Ducasse that would even give you the slightest inkling that he can be a solid BACKUP let alone a solid STARTER???
This is the Jet's MO lately. It's a plan that will keep us safely 9-7 and out in the playoffs again before we reach the Super Bowl, assuming we manage to make the playoffs.
Yeah, I get that. I haven't been this unhappy about the Jets prospects going into the off-season since after free agency in 2003. I was managing to keep it together until they let the Hunter and Holmes guarantee deadlines go by without doing the things the franchise needed done. At this point I make it a coin-flip that we're headed to ruin next season, like in 2005 and 2007 and if the flip comes up heads instead it's going to be 9-7/10-6 and another exit before the Super Bowl.
How about the Jets start by filling one need? That has not been done yet. We have 47 back up QBs, a 4th WR, and a safety who is more like a LB.
