i don't know how tebow's contract could require the acquiring party to pay denver for any "recapture" - even if the jets assume the contract (as they would), the contract is between one team and the player (i.e., the jets and tebow), not between teams - that's why I'm not sure if tanny missed it or if denver is claiming this after the fact odd situation
Only an asshole can blame Tanny for not reading the contract of a player he is trying to trade for before the trade happens. If the foolish knew anything about the law, they'd know Tanny didn't have access to the players contract before he was acquired. The 5 Mil clause was discovered after the contract was acquired during the NFL grace period to discover and iron out these types of snags. So many haters without a bit of common sense.
So we got rid of an actual OC (Not a great one) for a guy that has hardly any experience as an OC. We got an injury riddled safety. We got Ray Lucas on steroids, then we don't have him because someone in the Jets can't read. Is there anything this team does right?
There's no way something like $5M went undiscussed in a negotiation like this. There's obviously more to it than ''Oops, we didn't notice that part''.
The clause in question: It looks like the Jets figured out after really reading the contract that this clause existed...ESPN says the Jags won't do the deal b/c of this clause.
Plenty of people disagree. That is not why you are a joke. You were going off on how the sky is falling for us signing nobody and mario williams to the Bills bs. We have no cap room. Its obvious why the Jets were trying to get Tebow for a 1.2 mill cap hit when we have no room to do anything. We already signed Landry and the draft has not even happened yet.
Maybe this whole thing was a set up by Denver to drive up the price to another team and we happen to be the patsy used to do it. Walking from this deal would make my day go from terrible to awesome quicker than Tebow can throw an incomplete pass.
Stop. It's so much easier to scream "Tanny didn't read the contract? Fire his ass!" regardless of the facts. Plus, you're forgetting that the FO failed in signing Manning, Mario Williams, and Carl Nix. He needs to be fired for that too. And for drafting Gholston. And for PSLs. And for lukewarm hotdogs.
Is there a source saying this? How were other teams (JAX) aware of this? If what your saying is true, then JAX was aware meaning Denver must have told them since JAX doesn't have access until a trade occurs which never happened with JAX.
